Against backdrop of protests, state NFL players carry out charitable work

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a letter to team owners on Tuesday about protests by league players during the national anthem and hinted at a plan to address the issue that would include an "in-season platform to promote the work of our players" - work such as that done by players with Alabama football roots in just the past couple of weeks.
