Title: CJM to Memphis Post by: bama87 on December 06, 2011, 08:24:14 PM Rumos are swirling that he is headed to Memphis. I wish him luck but that is a dead end job.
Title: Re: CJM to Memphis Post by: 2Stater on December 06, 2011, 08:26:00 PM 87, these rumors, do you know if it's before or after the bowl game?
Title: Re: CJM to Memphis Post by: bama87 on December 06, 2011, 08:31:07 PM Don't know. He did well in the interview according to a Memphis tweet. Their committee is meeting tomorrow.
Title: Re: CJM to Memphis Post by: BAMADCHAMPSHIPS on December 06, 2011, 08:33:48 PM It's going to be hard to win there. Good luck to him. If he gets to open the air attack like he did in Fresno and other previous stops he should be able to be able to field a good team. :popcorn2:

I don't know if we can get someone better than McElwain or not, but I hope it's after the NCG. That could prove to be very disruptive if he leaves before. Title: Re: CJM to Memphis Post by: SUPERCOACH on December 06, 2011, 08:41:02 PM I can't imagine that he would leave before the game. If you had a 50/50 chance to put a second national title on your résumé, would you leave early to go to Memphis?

Dunnaway and the others thought he should wait. FEDEX MAN hired a committee to look for the new coach. $2 million per year for 3-4 years would not be to bad though. I personally think he will go somewhere else. Already making .5 million and probably got a bonus for helping get #TIDE to BCS NCG!! WOW. That was just awesome to type!! I think I will type it some more! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! BCS NCG!!!! Title: Re: CJM to Memphis Post by: BAMAWV on December 06, 2011, 09:09:52 PM The bad news for Memphis is that half our fanbase will be tickled he's gone.

Title: Re: CJM to Memphis Post by: Marshal Dillon on December 06, 2011, 09:54:34 PM I can't imagine that he would leave before the game. If you had a 50/50 chance to put a second national title on your résumé, would you leave early to go to Memphis? If hired, he's gone. His head won't be in the Alabama game anyway. Why should he wait a month before leaving, when he can be putting together a staff, making the rounds at Memphis, recruiting, etc. Once hired, his loyalty belongs to Memphis. I don't have a problem with it. Once hired at Memphis, his resume at Alabama become irrelevant, it's what he does as a head coach is what will count now. :dog: Title: Re: CJM to Memphis Post by: SeniorTSM on December 07, 2011, 06:56:49 AM Tweet last night said look for Mike Groh to Become OC if CJM leaves...OC at Virgina it said....that made me nervous..lol

I am hearing that they agreed on terms, except for one item: facilities commitment. Good for CJM. He should hold out for a better opportunity. I did not know about the facilities upgrade. That makes sense, you can't recruit with 3rd rate facilities. Plus, it shows that Memphis reallly is not serious about its football program. I understand that it's not always about money, but it is for most folks. Also, it depends on much you make at the time. If someone is making $40,000 in Alabama and are offered $80,000 in Alabama or Georgia, you can bet they are gone. However, those offers disappear after age 60. :( Title: Re: CJM to Memphis Post by: 2Stater on December 08, 2011, 07:15:38 AM I'm assuming Memphis still plays their games at the Liberty Bowl. It's in a very crime-filled location, and crime in Memphis is a lot worse than crime in most other pacles. For that matter, you would probably have to build a stadium in Millington to escape most of Memphis's massive crime areas. That is unless things have changed over the last 10-12 years.
