Refs are horrendous. If a Bama player is anywhere near a Memphis player, a foul is called. Bama already in foul trouble with 12 minutes plus left in first half. Announcers are starting to question them now. Bama down 15-13.

For some reason mine is not coming in at this time with a few other channels.

Bama with 12 team fouls with 10:32 left in the half. Memphis having their way because Bama can't afford to foul. Memphis up 19-13.

Coach, it might be for the best. This is a travesty.

Luckily, UM is a lousy FT shooting team. Bama hustling anyway. Up 25-22 now.

I see the foul count is 16 to 7.  A bit one sided.

3:19 left in the half. Bama up 27-24. With our size advantage, we should be hammering it down low more. Shooting too many threes and not making them. In spite of ALL of this, the team is playing with hustle. Not the pass around team we've seen for 6 years now.

Schaeffer getting a lot of playing time due to all the team fouls. Playing very well. We now have 18 team fouls. We may not have enough players to finish the game.

Bama up 34-31 with 1:20 left in the half.

OMG!!! called a foul on Schaeffer where the Memphis player shoved him with his forearm. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea how we are ahead, but we are, 38-36. We have 20 TEAM FOULS at the half. Total BS!  >:(

No idea, Preacher, but it is obvious. Not to say some of the fouls weren't legit, but most were not.

43-43 with 16 minutes left in the game. The hits (fouls) just keep on coming.

Ingram and Schaeffer carried Bama in the first half. Petty and Jones are lighting it up so far in the second half.

Great win for a very talented team, and without Sexton, Norris, Davis and Key. Even with all the fouls, they persevered. Ingram had a great game with 20 points.

Congrats to the team for a great opener.

I was flipping channels looking for something good to watch and came across a pretty good basketball game.  Bama vs. Memphis.  When did Bama get a basketball team and just how much did it cost us?  Anybody?  :lol3:

Good.  I didn't get to watch the game.  Sounded like a goodie.  I know one thing; the Memphis sports channels were touting it all week.  Be interesting to see what they said after the loss.  I taped the news, so I'll watch.

Okay, I watched the tape of the news.

After Memphis lost to Alabama, Channel 3 News (Memphis) concluded:

1.  Memphis played well, but had "several new players on their team".
2.  Bama played without 4 of its top 6 players due to suspension and injuries.
3.  "Tigers led early 19-13", but "Bama finished the first half strong".
4.  "Petty's 3's started a Bama run (after the game was tied at 40)".
5.  "Memphis looked like a team with 7 new players".

6. Memphis looked like a team that was not better than Bama.  8)

I watched the game. 

Nice win for an undermanned Bama team with multiple players in foul trouble.  Missing 4 top players, Bama had 8 players available for the game, and two of those sat a good bit with three fouls in the first half.  The announcer said the foul calls were legit; I felt like they were ticky tack, but I'm no expert.

Tubby Smith is coaching Memphis.  There was mention of Memphis having several Juco transfers, but I didn't pay attention to the specifics -- how many new players they have, how long has Tubby been there.  Bottom line appears to be that Memphis is in a transition period. 

Hard to make many conclusions from this one game, other than Bama doesn't suck. And it's nice to be on the winning side.  :clap:

Memphis use to be a contender every year and I just wondered if they were ranked and still are contenders? RTR!

Memphis has been better lately, Preacher, after a slump.  They were 19-15 and 19-13 the past 2 years.

Memphis hasn't been a "contender" since Coach Calipari left Memphis to coach at Kentucky.

Glad he left.  I hated watching the Memphis sports news when he was on.
You're right though; they slumped after he left.

I agree Memphis has not been a contender since Calipari left but they are still a respectable team. This was a good win and nice way to start the season.

One thing I take out of this win, no matter what state Memphis is in, is that Bama has more depth than they have had in the past. 

They sure do, Coach. I really enjoyed watching Schaeffer getting in for 7 minutes and playing well. Looks like we have fewer weak links than we've had in a long time.

Listening to you guys makes me think CAJ is doing what he said he would do and may be doing it even quicker than we first thought. Building a contender and maybe winning what haven't won before. RTR!

It is nice to see us put up 82 points. We have struggled to get more than 65 per game since Grantbecame the coach. We only scored 82 or more three times last year.

Does anyone have any idea who we are recruiting in BB? Where would we find the recruiting process going on for BB? CAJ should be pursuing somebody I would thin. RTR!

Ingram pointed out the 82 points in post game interview.  He hinted between better scoring and defense Bama should be a different team this year.
