Title: Demetrius Goode transfers to North Alabama
Post by: pmull on May 23, 2011, 01:45:18 PM
It looks like he is transfering to get a little playing time his senior year. Who can blame him. It looks like he is leaving with a good attitute.

"I would like to thank my Alabama family for the greatest journey of my life," Goode wrote. "I have learned many things and matured in many ways but everyday brings about change. Sometimes you have to move on to do better in life. I will be moving to North Alabama for football. RTR forever in my heart, the champion Tide, the fans that I will always love and never forget. I thank ya'll for the support: ROLL TIDE ROLL. For life."

I wish him well. That's what happens when you're so deep at one position.

He's leaving with class, that's for sure.  Roll Tide, Mr Goode, and best of luck at tUNA.

He will be a great advantage for N.Ala. I think. He is SEC caliber and going there he is going to make some coaches awfully happy. Mr. Goode, good luck and promise to be a selection in the big game next April. RTR!

I hate to lose him, but I am not totally surprised by the move. A classy way to leave. Good luck, Demetrius. I hope you break every rushing record at UNA!!

I agree with you guys. I hate to lose him, he seemed like a really hard runner. I understand the move though. Wish him nothing but the best. Good Luck and Roll Tide!

So now we are down to:

BATR
Eddie Lacy
Jalston Fowler
Corey Grant
Mike Marrow
 ???

You forgot Demetrius Hart. Five star incoming freshman that enrolled in Jan and played in the spring game.

Goode had to know it is better for the team to let a young guy get the 3rd team carries rather than a senior.

I believe Marrow left before last season.

I hate to lose DG, but somehow I don't think we will be hurting too bad at RB this year. Just a hunch.  ;D

My bad, pmull. I am visably upset about the loss of Goode. We spent years watching him progress to the point of possibly making an impact and improving our depth chart. Gone. But I'd like to feel that every player shows up for practice with a "if I give 100% I can be the #1 guy" attitude.

Without injuries Goode was not going to play this year. The spring game showed D. Hart is going to split time with Lacey as the back-up to BATR. It appears to me he went through spring fighting for playing time. Otherwise, it would have been easier to transfer to UNA and practice with them this spring. He gave everything he had to Bama for 4 years. He wants a few carries before his career is over. Good for him. I hope he does real well with UNA.

Granted, his senor year PT would have been situational. Your "without injuries" caveat furthers my point. Particularly pass blocking out of the backfield, he brought more to the "Tide table" than just giving BATR a down or two of rest. If you look at it as "we lost a 3rd or 4th string RB" it doesn't seem as bad as "we lost a RB that could've started at the barn". Thanks for trying to talk me off the ledge, and # for thinking of what is (maybe) best for Goode, but our RB arsenal just took a huge hit. RTR

I see your point but I am not so sure this is a huge hit. I think the limited PT he would get this year is better served building depth and experience for the future with a younger player.

Oh yea, don't jump. Slowly come down from the ledge.  ;)
