This just can’t get any stranger. Seriously.

Harvey Updyke, the man charged with poisoning the Toomer’s Corner oaks in Auburn, was thrown out of the SEC softball tournament in Tuscaloosa this afternoon.

Reports of the incident lit up social media sites and the University of Alabama released a statement a few minutes ago.

“Mr. Harvey Updyke was asked by University of Alabama officials to leave today’s softball game and he complied..."

Harvey with the cops.

Yesterday Double Nickle and I spotted Updyke as he bought a program when he entered the stadium and followed him to where he was sitting on a bench. We approached him and I called him by name and asked how he was doing. He denied being Harvey Updyke and we told him we knew it was him. We then asked him how he was doing again and he said not so well that the pressure of all this had taken a toll on him. His hands and arms were shaling as we talked and he told us that he was now living in Louisiana and had just returned to Alabama to give them his finger prints for the 5th time. He had no idea as for the date of his trial, he said that they keep changing it.

It was sad to see this man and his physical condition and not understand his mental state of mind. He has supposedly commited a crime, by his own confession on public radio, of poisoning two trees at Auburn. Today, these two trees are still alive and personally I don't think anything is wrong with them other than the age of the trees. It has been a nothing but a huge media blitz by the University of Auburn that this man be prosecuted to the maximum for this crime.

I am a bit surprised of his ejection from the game, he wasn't bothering anyone in any way and he actually sat for the whole Tennessee and Florida game in the stadium seats and no one knew who he was. I saw that he had left his seat for the bama and Georgia game and not knowing that he had moved to the Brick Yard where there were fewer fans.

I'm not so proud of a Bama fan to want his execution as a fan to happen until he has his day in court, if that ever happens. Is the University now going to personally ban all fans that embarres them in any way from ever attending Bama sporting events, for instance, the Bama fan that was arrested after the BCSNCG for a lewed act during the celebaration after the game. Also, what about all of the drunks that are escorted from events for rowdy behavior, there is nothing that irritates me more at games than the alcohol usage and the behavior of some of these fans.

I'm not defending this man for what he did, but I do think it has been taken to the extreme by the University of Auburn and their media. This man is pitiful and has wronged, but should he have to be punished to this extreme. If he had been causing a scene at the game I would be thinking differently, but he wasn't bothering anyone and was actually unnoticed until; the police arrived. JMO

If they really are dying, could it be from tree suffocation? Just asking....

Under the current circumstances, it would be to Lee Harvey's advantage to go home and stay home. Instead he pops up at a nationally televised event to draw further attention to himself and unfortunately, the University of Alabama. He goes on the radio to admit guilt, then osscillates back to feigned innocence. He is hounding publicity and now is trying to use the U of A campus as a backdrop for his idiocy. The University is not falling for his ploy.

He is no friend of the Tide.

.

BINGO!!! This pathetic, loser of an old man is a black eye to all fans of the Crimson Tide and he needs to go away. He has brought all of his problems on himself due to his admitted actions. This guy has a real mental problem and can't seem to leave the University of Alabama alone, almost like the ex-boyfriend who stalks his ex-girlfriend. He needs to get a life and stay away from the UA campus. If he wants to view UA sports, he will have to do it at away venues.
