Sunday
Braves win 6-2. Medlen pitches a gem for 6 innings. Braves are 93-66 on year, a very good record, so far. Orioles & Yanks tied for lead in division. Go O's! Dodgers in a battle for last NL wildcard, but time running out on Dodgers.

Yeah, that's about right. First winning record since 1997.

Braves win 4-0. They used 8 pitchers, 7 of whom pitched 1 inning. The Braves finished 94-68 on the season. They play the Wild Card game on Friday in a one game series in Atlanta. I guess they use Medlen since he is their best pitcher or maybe Hudson since they HAVE to win this game. If the Braves win, they start a 5 game series against the Nats on Sunday. Nats have home field advantage. Dodgers miss the playoffs.

Why in the world did they use 8 pitchers?  Were they trying to give everybody a practice inning?

They play Friday and they did not want to wear out one pitcher who might not be available for Friday's big game. Plus, they give each pitcher a little work to keep them loose and sharp.

I don't like the extra wild card team, or more precisely, the one game playoff between the wild card teams. You play 162 games for the year and your playoff life hangs in the balance of 1 game? At least make it 2 out of 3.

Agree. However, I wouldn't mind seeing the Braves & Tigers with Cabrera playing. Don't get to see a Triple Crown Winner play in the World Series too often.

At least Ross has been good at catcher.

Quote
Plagued by injuries, Brian McCann endured the worst season of his career. He'll watch the Braves' wild-card playoff game from the bench.

Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez announced that David Ross - not McCann - will start Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals. But Gonzalez stressed that it's not a permanent move if the Braves advance past the one-game playoff.

Well Gonzalez has them in the playoffs in his 2nd year so I ain't about to 2nd guess his coaching. I do think that Brian Mc is one person who can get hot at anytime and then with him being due, he would go crazy. I hope Chipper has a great series and really gets some great hits and good defensive play. RTR!

Good breakdown of the Braves/Cards game on Friday. Game starts at 4 pm in Atlanta. Medlen vs Kyle Lohse in pitching. Lohse is their best pitcher with a 16-3 record and ERA of 2.86. We have the much better relief pitching and I think overall defense. Interesting game. Winner takes all.
