Yeah, this could likely be a 'hot seat' year for CKD if the team underperforms. This ain't Rutgers where people are happy with 8 or 9 win seasons.
I was not disappointed in year 2 under CKD. Yes, we opened with terrible loss to FSU and a late season home loss to Oklahoma when we were the better team. We were the #1 seed in the SECCG but lost to UGA who had better talent than us. We made the playoff and got revenge on Oklahoma. Indiana was unbeatable the day they played us and was the #1 team by all measures. Making the playoff was a success IMO. I expect us to be improved again this year.
Question: If you think CKD is on the hot seat, who do you think we could get that is better?
I'm not sure there is anybody better. I wasn't disappointed in this year's team either. I figured it would take about 3 years or so for CKD to find his legs, and I think he is on track for that to happen.
I think our fan base, who expects perfection every year, would create the narrative of the hot seat; real or perceived.
The other variable in all of this is the NIL and the portal. I know Saban had a very favorable impact on Trump, and he is doing things to try to reel some of that in, at least with the portal. We'll see where that goes. IMO, today's college football, if you can call it that anymore, is unrecognizable. The brakes need to be applied at some point.
