I readily admit that I am not a "crash reconstruction engineer" if there is such, or any other type of expert in these matters but...I do love Corvettes and have known for many years that they are all made using fiberglass bodies. Looking at Ruggs' car and seeing the damage It is really difficult for me to accept that he was driving 127 mph upon impact when I look at the amount of damage to his car. Maybe the way it was designed, having a mid-engine, makes it a lot safer and less susceptible to major damage?
