We now have 3 players out, Jahvon Quinerly, Bruner, & Herb Jones. This is getting critical. 61-45 Tide.

72-57 Tide 4:30 left. Still thinking of Bruner and Jones, both definitely looked hurt, especially Bruner.

My big question now is who fills in for Bruner & Jones. We have several freshmen on the roster. I will look at them more later.

In a Galaxy far far away they had:

THE GOOD

Tide is 5-0 in conference play first time since 86/87 season.
Tide won on road at Kentucky.
Tide scored 85 points, gave up only 65
Tide 14/30 3 pointers, 46.7%
Tide 29 points off turnovers (UK 10 points)
Points in Paint, Tide 32 (UK 22)
Tide only 11 turnovers

THE BAD

UK 18 off. rebounds, Tide 13
UK 44 rebounds, Tide 35
UK 21 second chance points, Tide 11

AND THE UGLY

Two starters injured, one probably serious
UK 27 bench points, Tide 15

Coach Oats said after the game that Oats hand/wrist was not broke but it would be further evaluated today. He did say Jones would be out for a while.

Bruner's injury was to his knee. It appeared on TV to be an ankle. The extend of his injury is unknown but not expected to be as serious as Jones hand/wrist injury.

Quinerly's missed his 3rd straight game for an undisclosed medical condition. Just a guess but COVID 19 is possible.

We are rolling. We need to get these three team leaders back. If we do, this year could be special.

Another pleasant surprise by the Bama Bball team.  It came at great cost though.   Losing both Herb and Bruner is crippling.

Great win, tough break with the injuries. Looks like this team is pretty deep, though. Got a couple of tough ones we'll have to gut out against Arky at home and LSU on the road, without them unless the injuries aren't too bad and they can return.

My guess is we'll be without them at least for the Arky game. The bench will need to step up.

We are using 9 players as it is. With two down, maybe 3, I don’t know how much deeper we can go. I have been looking over the rest of the roster and we have several freshmen & the other guys have almost no real game experience. Arkansas & LSU are very tough opponents. We are in a very tight position. Herb is best defensive player in SEC, maybe entire country. Bruner is 6’10” inside/outside player who can hit 3’s and play under the basket. Quinerly is our point guard. We have our backs against the wall in my opinion. Getting Quinerly back would be huge positive step.

Looking at the roster and trying to size up players based strictly on their bios is not very scientific. Only two really show much, Keon Ambrose-Hylton, freshman 6’8” forward, and Alex Tchikou, 6’11” freshman forward. Another interesting player is grad transfer 6’5” Kendall Wall. He played 70 games at a small college & walked on at Bama. Like I said, we already play nine guys and gets really thin after that.

Well, if there's a bright side, the team has put themselves in a position (5-0 in conference) that a loss or two won't kill the season.
