Thanks to our wonderful Government filters I can't see what this is that you posted.  However, I would love to have Charlie at Bama.  The Gator fans would absolutely HATE it though...

To me, Charlie is a good -- maybe very good -- DC who is not cut out to be a HC.  If he comes in as an analyst it will be interesting to see where this goes.  Maybe now Charlie realizes the HC job is not for him and he's ready to settle into a role (like DC) and a place where he can be comfortable and successful for a long time.  And, for a couple of years at least, he's probably getting good $$$ paid out from his previous jobs/contracts.

Could be.  I doubt Charlie Strong has given up on being a head coach, but maybe he needs more HC training.

It's official. He's our newest analyst.

Another former head coach is joining Nick Saban’s coaching staff at Alabama.

After spending the latter part of last week in Tuscaloosa, former Louisville, Texas and South Florida head coach Charlie Strong has agreed to join the Crimson Tide as a defensive analyst, according to Chris Low of ESPN. BamaOnLine reported last week this move was expected.

Now we will have some knowledge as to what is going on in the defense. I wonder if he will also share knowledge with Coach Golding as to what he sees? RTR!

I feel comfortable with him helping our defense and probably wouldn't mind if he were to step in as DC.  He is a good recruiter but my question though is, can he evaluate talent very well or does he just simply rely on someone else, Meyer, to tell him who to go after?  If he is unable to evaluate talent then I wouldn't want him to eventually step up to be our HC.

For now, I'm happy to regard Charlie as a "DC in waiting."  Let's see what happens.

I don't ever want him for a HC. DC is great but he is not a HC for anybody. RTR!

Don't know where this HC talk is coming from.  Guy is making $40k watching film and going to meetings.  He's about 1,000 steps from HC.

I could do that but I'd have to have a bit more salary...  Wink

Right!?   Huh?  (FIFY)

Maybe someone thought the mention of Saban's HC rehab course meant Strong would up for the Bama job, when all it really meant was Strong was hoping eventually to be successful as a HC somewhere.    Laughing
