A damning article about Coach Johnson:

Quote
The damning losses started piling up for Avery Johnson long before Alabama’s dreadful end to the season on Wednesday.

One of them was off the court.

Five-star recruit Trendon Watford of Mountain Brook stopped seriously considering Alabama during the middle of the season because, I have been told, of Johnson’s inability to establish a winning culture inside Alabama’s locker room. In the end, Johnson’s players stopped believing in their coach, and that toxic poison permeated through every aspect of the program.

It also talks about getting Rick Petino which I am totally against.

Shocked Shocked Rick Pitino? Goshly one Rick in this program is enough and that's me. We don't need somebody to call girls or whatever went on. To much baggage there. RTR!

Just say no to Pitino.  Too many out there that do it right to take that path.

hscoach: Can you explain what they could be talking about specifically? What is a winning culture in the locker room? Lack of commitment by coaches, no discipline, or what?

I thought maybe they meant Richard Pitino, the son, but maybe not.   Huh?

In my opinion.  Many times when things aren't going well, the players develop cliques.  They think their buddy should be playing ahead of others and in games, when their friend is not in the game, they may not pass the ball or not play as hard.

So, the coach was not able to develop a “team” concept and a focused message?

I don't think so.  The same thing could have happened if you had had a team Tua and a Team Jalen group in football.  I have said before that AJJ didn't deserve the playing time he got, maybe some of the players felt the same way.  Maybe some thought Reese should have been playing more.  These are just examples.  It is usually more common in high school, I think.  Remember when Saban came in and got rid of some players.  That could happen again if a new coach comes in.

I was re-reading this thread last night. One month ago, CAJ still had some support from us, but things collapsed and now he’s gone in the space of a month. Wow.

What about Pelphrey. He was good at KY. He didn't do to good at Arkansas but is he HC material? RTR!

He never coached at Kentucky. He was head coach at South Alabama & Arkansas and he was so-so at both. Time to look at someone else.

A few early names: Not on the list, but I heard Johnny Dawkins, UCF mentioned.

Greg Byrnes addresses media about coaching search.

Basically, forget Pitino & Sampson.
