Drove over 1000 miles the first day, and stayed in Denver (when the snow started).

Next morning; beautiful.

Loveland Pass - snowy.

Aspen Mountain (as I approached Basalt CO).

Saw this old barn alongside the road.  Something moved inside, so Chech explored.

Four mule deer hiding in there!  Odd.

More gooduns indeed. That was unusual to see those deer hiding in that open shed.

Ok, I'm all ready to hear about the rainbow trout.

The big rainbow trout (the REAL story):

I was fishing next to a guy named JJ (whatever).  He was about my age, but I noticed he was using a wading staff and having trouble walking.  We chatted.  Nobody else was around, and we were catching trout periodically.  Then I heard him say he'd hooked one.  INDEED, a whale.  Even though I was 25' away I could see it (clear water).  He was stumbling, trying to get it within netting distance, but the fight went on for 10-15 minutes.  I offered to help net it for him (often done; guides usually net your fish), but he said he wanted to do it.  He struggled.  He was working downstream, following the fish toward deep water.  Finally, after nearly falling a dozen times, he got it into the net; I went to take photos for him.  I started the GoPro camera and took pics with his camera.  But JJ was tired, very fatigued.  I held onto him while he recovered.  Meanwhile, as you see in the top pic, I helped the fish recover and released it.  We exchanged email addresses and last night I sent him photos from my camera.  Here is the fish with him (my hands holding his camera for the pics):

Lots of red rocks along the river.  Looks like Red Mountain (B'ham).
