Alabama's opening game starter at quarterback is no longer with the team.

Redshirt freshman Blake Barnett is transferring and has left the program, sources told AL.com.

If this is the kind of character he has, no wonder Hurts won the job. He can't play anywhere else this season, he could have continued to learn from the coaching staff, get some playing experience late in games, and be available if Hurts is injured before transferring next year. But apparently he's a quitter and a sore loser.

Finebaum mentioned it 15 minutes ago. I thought leaving like he did was dumb & he could still be learning, but he may feel that he was never given a fair chance. Or he realized he's in over his head. Whatever, I have no hard feelings about him leaving.

If he'd waited until the end of the year, no problem. That would be perfectly understandable. But quitting on a championship potential team in the middle of the season because you didn't win the job? What a loser.

Good Lord what is going on? I haven't heard read of this anywhere. Where did he go, back or where? RTR!

He's just very sensitive and needed to see his mommy, so don't be so mean.

What? Get playing time? You mean like Coker did behind Simms? Kiffin wasted his playing time last week by giving it to two guys who are very sub par at best.

I really think Blake did what was best because he has seen other QB's leave Alabama and go elsewhere and play. I don't know if doing it at this time of the year was right or not but maybe it had something to do with school also. RTR!

Well, since by leaving he will have to sit out for one full year if he goes to another D1 school then I can understand him leaving right now since he would be eligible by game 5 next year.  However, IMO he would have benefitted by finishing out the season at Bama then transferring to an FBS school for one year where he could play right away.  Then, after one year there he could transfer back to one of the big schools to play his remaining time... I hate this decision and feel that it was very selfish of him.  Just hope that Bama gets to play whatever school he transfers to while he is the starting qb so our defense can say goodbye appropriately...   Angry

Well 57 I think I got the answer to your question. I would have to say "NOBODY!" Best of to him. I don't think he has been the same after he got sick that time. RTR!

He's a California kid so he will be at Fresno State, USC, Cal, San Diego State, etc. I hope he makes it.
