Quote
now, it's common knowledge that the Big 12 is exploring expansion. We all expect OSU will remain a member of the conference no matter who the Big 12 adds. A lot would have to happen for OSU to leave the conference. However, Ron Higgins of NOLA.com suggests a vastly different course of action for the Cowboys.

In the article, Higgins sets up a scenario where both OU and OSU jump ship on the Big 12 and join the SEC West. By doing so, that would move Alabama and Auburn to the SEC East, leaving the SEC with two eight-team divisions. That would make the SEC look like this:

That would make for some great playing games. Everyone would a national televised game bUT those 2 schools aren't leaving the Big 12. Reason is simple:
(1) They would never win an SEC Championship.
(2) The teams they would meet in the West they would only win 2 games maybe 3 on a great year.
(3) The coach at osu don't have the really big boy pants it takes in the SEC, (if he is a Man.)
(4) Bob Stoops can run his mouth out there in the Big 12 and not have an Alabama or even Auburn run up a big score on him.

Must have been a slow news day for this article to get written.

The path to the NCG is much easier for OSU and OU in the Big 12.  I'm not buying.

Lots of talk about conference expansion these days.  Mostly folks are discussing moving Houston and/or Memphis to the Big 12.  I don't see either as an asset; both lack the fan base expected in major conferences..

Haven't heard about OSU and OU jumping ship.  Not buying.

I could see Oklahoma making a play (or most likely just threatening) if the Longhorn Network is not dissolved.

Texas and Oklahoma are the only two Big12 schools with national fanbases.
