Palmer almost alone kept us from being destroyed in a couple of games and especially Tenn. in 1988 I believe it was. Please correct me if my year is wrong. RTR!

Tennessee broke a 7 year losing streak against us in 1993 by tying us at Legion Field.  17-17 if my memory holds...and that was only because Deuce scored a late TD after we started using him at QB.  Barker and the O weren't moving the ball much that day.

That was my first Alabama-Tennessee game.  I was 13 at the time and sat in the student section with my sister and her boyfriend.  I learned a lot of new words that day...all of which my mother would have blistered my rear for using.

I watched that game on the tube. It almost felt like we had won that game after Palmer took control. I believe Heath "NFL bust" Shuler was 10rc's QB,

I do not remember Deuce playing QB much in that game. Barker and Deuce led a fantastic 83 yard drive in the final 83 seconds to tie the game. We were down by 17-9. Deuce caught everything Barker got close to him. Some of the best most athletic catches I have ever seen. Barker scored on a QB sneak from the 1. Palmer lined up at QB on the 2 pt try and everyone in the stadium and on TV knew what he was going to do. UT thought they had that game won. One of the few times a tie felt good. We were defending National Champs riding a 28 game win streak.

Barker got hurt later in the year and Palmer played a lot of QB that year. Barker only started 9 games in 1993.

I found this article about that game. Click here for link

Thanks for setting me straight.  I just remembered all the talk being about Palmer after the game, and I could still see him running in that 2 pt conversion.

Applause E-Cred e-cred for this one pmull. I still remember today how my heart was gut wrenched after that tie. I can honestly say it is the only time when I just as sick as if we had lost any chance of being Alabama again. I don't believe if I live to be a 100 I'll ever forget that game. RTR!

I was at that game with my $4 student ticket.  It was standing room only.  I was standing behind the end zone on the opposite end of the field from where Palmer tied the game.  There was no way for us to see if he crossed the goal line, so we had to just monitor the crowd reaction to know the outcome.  It was quite obvious of course.  You could have been in Eastaboga and heard the outcome.

Had we been going for a win instead of a tie, that would have been right up there with The Kick.  That was a very unsettling game emotionally.  I was relieved we pulled out the tie, but I was sick that our win streak was over.  We also had a 7 year win streak against UT that ended that day.  That ended up being the last time we would ever have to kiss our sister, thank God.  They started the OT rules 1 or 2 seasons later.
