The images are jarring. There on video is Mississippi State five-star recruit Jeffery Simmons standing over a woman already on the ground and punching her several times in the face.

I agree with this observation below.

Or to put it another way from McPherson: "If coaches don't wake up, you're going to find more coaches just like Art Briles. The whole notion of second chances as Nick Saban tried to say -- and I like Nick a lot and believe he cares -- but all of these guys have these savior complexes. They think they can give a player a second chance and help him out and that's going to be a bigger risk in this environment."

If these type of incidents by the players are reported to the head of the universities as they should be, you would think the head of the universities would kick them out of school regardless of how the coaches feel.

I would think that the head of the universities could definitely "kick them out" and the football/basketball/etc. coaches would just have to move forward without them.  However, how many times does the football coach yield more power over kids than does the university presidents?
