A court order related to the millions of dollars owed to the victims of Jerry Sandusky says that Penn State coaches, including Joe Paterno, may have known of child abuse allegations against Sandusky as far back as 1976.

According to PennLive.com, a line in a court order claims one of Penn State’s insurers said a child “allegedly reported” to Joe Paterno in 1976 he was “sexually molested by Sandusky.” Sandusky, who is currently serving 30-60 years after being found guilty on 45 counts of sexual abuse, was a defensive assistant under Paterno from 1969-1999, when he retired. Paterno died in Jan. 2012.

They have reduced the sanctions to where Penn State only got a slap on the wrist. Now they are discussing putting Paterno's statue back up. The University has paid Millions but that is not enough. The school, administration and coaches knew about this and lied, covered up and looked the other way to save the football program. That is Paterno's legacy... not football wins or titles.

His fans & supporters are still trying to say Paterno was a great man who had no knowledge of what happened for 30 years under his nose. He knew and just did not care & the facts need to be out there so these sycophants shut up with their myth-telling.

Well in my heart,,,I believe Joe Paterno knew what was happening around his camp just as our CNS does. Nobody will ever convince me any different. I just don't understand how they can keep bringing up a dead man who can't have the right to stand up for himself. This is my wondering of what is going on. RTR!

I truly hate what Sandusky did to all those boys.  I also hate that Coach Paterno knew about it for so long and didn't do anything.  The one silver lining in all of this from my perspective is that I am glad that my father-in-law (as big of a Bama fan as there ever was) died before all of this came to light.  He loved Bama but he had a tremendous amount of respect for Joe too and I am glad that he never knew what was going on...

More confusing info.

As many as six former assistant coaches witnessed Jerry Sandusky sexually abuse children across three decades at Penn State, NBC News reported Friday.

In court documents first revealed by pennlive.com on Thursday, two coaches allegedly witnessed the abuse in 1987 and 1988. Sources told NBC News another assistant coach witnessed an incident in the late 1970s, and three more allegedly saw inappropriate behavior between Sandusky and boys in the early to mid-1990s.

This is sickening. I cannot believe some people what Paterno's statue put back at the stadium. It is hard to believe this happened at a once well respected University. Now we find out it was not just Paterno but several members of the coaching staff were aware of what Sandusky was doing.
