The loss ended a streak of 16-straight wins by Alabama (42-10, 13-7 SEC) over South Carolina (34-17, 6-14 SEC) and evened the weekend series at 1-1. The Crimson Tide only tallied three hits in the losing effort, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly by Haylie McCleney. Alexis Osorio (13-6) took the loss in the circle, striking out nine and allowing two runs on five hits over 5.0 innings pitched. Gamecock starter Jessica Elliott (17-5) earned the win after losing Friday’s game, while Nickie Blue posted her sixth save with 3.0 relief innings.

It was the same ole story again of Bama facing a good pitcher and the bats go silent. This problem has been there all year as the Bama ladies become too passive at the plate waiting on that good pitch to hit. Bama had their chances to win in the late innings with runners in scoring position but just didn't produce at the plate.  Sad

Like giving away a game.  Maybe this team needs better challenges.  That's coming soon.

Unless something changes with their mental attitude in the games ahead, their tournament success might be in big danger because they will see nothing but good pitching. Georgia will be their last regular season games next weekend and that should give them a good test before the SEC tournament. Their pitching has been somewhat of a roller coaster ride as well of late, too many walks and hit batters. I think Osorio hit 4 batters yesterday.

Could have been more, but they kept dodging away.  She'll do better next outing!

Today's game is much bigger than it was yesterday, they don't need to lose this series for post season tournament reasons.

The game was rain shortened to 5 innings and it was a good win for the ladies today. Haley McCleney had a good game with two outstanding defensive plays that saved some runs. She also did well with her bat driving in two runs. Littlejohn started for the Tide and got the win but she struggled with her control. Osorio came in and got the save.

Georgia comes in next Friday for 3 games that will finish the season schedule.
