UT got 3 run in the top of the 1st and Alabama held them scoreless the rest of the way. Geoffrey Bramblett pitched another quality start and picked up the win. Alabama scored 2 runs in the 3rd, 4 in the 5th and picked up an insurance run in the 8th.

Due to bad weather expected on Sunday the two teams will play a day-night double header today. Game 2 will begin at 2:00 and Game 3 will begin at 8:00.

Quote
Falling behind 3-0 after one full frame, the Crimson Tide rallied to score seven unanswered runs for the 7-3 win over Tennessee on Friday evening in front of a sold-out crowd at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The win was Alabama's first SEC victory inside the new "Joe" and improves the team's record to 14-7 overall, 3-1 in conference play.

I like the ranking, it is OK, but I like the SEC record as well as anything. We have some good teams in the SEC in baseball. USCe is always good think. I wonder what ever happened to Jody22? He use to come over and give us some insight as to USCe sports. RTR!

Yeah, wish Jody would return.

USCe has kicked Ole Miss twice, and tries for a sweep today.

Burrows is still out with a pulled muscle.

Game 1 was sold out. A nice crowd down both lines and in the right field terrace. The announced crowd was 5867. Seats were empty behind home plate yet again meaning the big donor Tide Pride members buy the best most expensive ticket and do not show up.  Angry

The win improves the Tide record to 14-7 on the season and 3-1 SEC.

Jake Walters (So., RHP, 2-2, 2.96) is expected to start Game 2. Nick Eicholtz (Jr., RHP, 1-0, 0.00) is expected to start Game 3.

Baseball is not covered very well. In Decatur the station that airs Tide sports has high school baseball games in place of Alama most days. We rarely get an Alabama game. Can you access whatespn.com or espn3.com on your computer. If you can most games and all SEC games get video and audio coverage.

For radio only try Google to see which stations carry Tide Sports and then see which, if any, call be heard online.

Alabama wins Game 2 and the series 11-3. Bama fell behind 2-0 before they scored 4 runs in the 6th and 7 runs in the 7th. UT got a meaningless run in the 9th.

UT     3   8  0
Bama 11 10 1

We win our second SEC series in as many weeks as we improve to 15-7 (4-1 SEC). We go for the sweep later tonight. Game 3 is at 8:00 tonight.

UT beat Alabama 6-3 in Game 3 to avoid the sweep. Bama won the series 2-1.

UT took a 3-0 but Bama came back to tie the game with a run in the 6th and 2 in the 7th. UT got 3 runs in the top of the 9th and won the game.

This is two weeks in a row we were in position to sweep and lost the game in the opponents last at bat. If healthy Thomas Burrows would have been in the game and the outcome most likely would be different.

We are off to a great start in SEC play. We are 4-2 in league play and we are 2-0 in series wins. We are 15-8 on the year.

We play a non-conference game with Auburn on Tuesday in the Capital City Classic in Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery. We go to Athens for a 3 game series with Georgia next weekend.

If Haney had set up at the plate like he should have on the play at home the runner is out, Bama wins the game and gets the sweep. Banging your head against the wall.

It is against the rules for catchers to block the plate in NCAA and MLB. It is to avoid injuries. Base runners are sliding head first into home this year due to that rule. It is much easier and quicker to slide wide and get your hand on the plate while avoiding the tag. In the past if you slide head first you run head first into the catchers shin guard.

I didn't say to be on or block the plate, I meant to set up at the plate on the field side. If he sets up at the plate, he wouldn't have had to make the long reach that he had and the runner is out. His left foot seemed to be a good 2 feet from the plate and he's reaching toward right field when he made the catch and then he had a long reach then to make the tag.

We saw it differently. I thought he set up close to but slightly off the plate as the rules require. The runner slide wide reaching his hand back to tag the plate. The runners slide caused Haney to have to reach for the tag IMO.

After this conversation if I saw the replay again I might agree with you. Watching the game last night and listening to the announcers comments I thought Haney did all he could do within the rules. It was a very close play.
