Got 2 bags of "Fish Bites" at Wally World today.  Dancing
I just ordered 6 bags, 3 pink, 2 Chartreuse, and 1 they call "flesh" color...I'll pick them up in Prattville at the BPS on the way down... I also ordered some Pompano jigs too...  Dancing

Be careful handling the fish, they might think your fingers are the bait. Shocked  Laughing

Those baits are like all fishing lures.  If they're "flesh colored" or white, they're advertised as "natural baits".  The colorful ones mimic "sand flea eggs" or "bleeding baitfish", or called "attractants".  Of course, we need them all ... and the fish don't give a rat's azz.

Spoken like a true biologist. Applause E-Cred Laughing

Speaking of such stupidity, I'm bringing some orange earplugs.  The guys on the fishing forum swear they're great as attractants; mimic eggs.

The Gulf-Breeze area fishing reports are still very good. Lots of pompano, redfish, and (recently) Ladyfish and Spanish Mackerel.  The waters are warming, so more Ladyfish (skipjack) are patrolling the shallows.  They're somewhat a pain, and not edible, but at least it's indicative of summer approaching.

9 days and waiting...

I saw that too. Should be absolutely perfect. Just need the surf to stir up a little bit.

I'm really excited about going down there for this fishing trip but am really bummed out that you can't come.

I purchased a new axle shaft and wheels/tires for my pier/beach cart today.  Now I just need to cut it down to size, drill the holes for the cotter pins and put it all together... I am putting larger tires on it since it will be used in the sand.  Those old small tires just tend to sink in sand so hopefully this will fix that...

My nerd beachcart is now ready for the CRS trip.
1. Added 4 PVC rods in front to hold 4 beach spikes;
2. Added a 'snout', made from a pool noodle, to hold lures and rigs.  Just wrap the pompano rigs around it and the hooks embed into it;
3. Added more 1.5" PVC to hold additional rods, mallet, and net;
4. Extension arms to hold the umbrella over the fisherman;
5. Glove is over the handle; ready to remove catfish and stingrays!

We are going to have to hide this thread. Every time Mrs Dottie gets on here she wishes we had the money to go fishing you all.  Laughing, at first started tell her we wasn't invited but then I thought if she should ask she would beat me, so I reminded her right now we don't have the money.  Applause E-Cred, but we want to wish all of you a safe and happy time and holler ROLL TIDE ROLL for us.  , RTR!
