I believe Mark Richt is overall a good guy. Talks about his faith, seems to be a great family man. However, look at what he allows his players to do. Allowed them to come over to the Bama team as they came on the field and taunt them. Did the same thing at midfield as warmups concluded. His players were still running their mouths and getting personal fouls/unsportsmanlike conduct fouls as they were getting stomped by 28 points. This has happened multiple times during his UGA tenure. Moral of this story: if you are going to talk the talk, walk the walk. I hope UGA keeps Richt for another 15 years. They will be good, but in the end irrelevant.

It's always good to see those that try and bully their way around end up on the short end of the stick. Wink

I have always liked Richt. He is a nice guy with a strong Christian faith but it is hard to support some of the things he allows his team to do.

I do support Richt's 9-5 record against the barn.

The Christian faith bit is a nonissue except to those at uga trying to save his job. He's an average coach in a talent rich area; like golden st Miami and Les at LSU. But Les is more!😜

His Christian faith is a nonissue in his ability to coach but it is extremely relevant in determining his character.

I don't think anyone questions Richt's character.  His ability to coach, his ability to control his players, his ability to win big games, those are not only questions, in my mind they have been answered over 15 years of limited success despite recruiting a lot of talent.

So his faith does not bring his character into question, but when you look at his allowing his players to act the way they do,  and have tends to negate his faith being a witness of his character. A few years ago when Ga was struggling he told his team to go to the end zone when they scored a TD and act stupid to build their moral. I get the feeling he knew they were going to do what they did to Bama's players before the game(He didn't have a clue what he was about to face in the game I guess, or maybe he did and thought this would help), may have even given the go ahead to do it. You can call yourself a Christian all day long but that does not say anything about your character, what you do, or allow others that you have some influence over to do, speaks volumes about your character.

I think that was a Florida game.  And he might well have known, and perhaps encouraged, his players to taunt Bama players as they came out.  I'm not sure this speaks to his character so much as the wisdom of his coaching.

Richt did not help himself in the terrible loss to UT yesterday where UGA blew a 21 point early lead.

On the other side of the field Butch Jones got a much needed win.

I have no doubt in my heart Mark Richt is a Christian but this is SEC football. I think with our game and the loss yesterday after the big lead may have cost Mark his job at the end of the year. Losing to Alabama is bad but losing to Alabama and rival Tenn. back to back is ugly at the UGA! RTR!

Richt got very angry & threw his headset late in the game. First time I have seen him so angry. The pressure & frustration is getting to him, I think.

Is he any kin to Steve Spurrier? RTR!

I think Richt's future depends a lot on how Florida does this year.  If they beat UGA, win the East, and go to Atlanta I think that will really get the attention of the folks in Athens.  If a first year coach can come into Florida and have that much success, that might be what convinces UGA to finally make a change after all of these years of good, but not quite championship teams.
