 Sad

Scary stuff.  Thursday night football injury in Memphis.   Pray

This is a guy we looked at.  Kiel originally committed to Indiana University and LSU before officially enrolling at Notre Dame on January 17, 2012.  He's at Cincy now.

Prayers may have helped.
Reports on ESPN say he's alert in the locker room, and he has movement in all extremities.
Hope he's okay!

ESPN report:

Gunner Kiel is in a Memphis hospital.  His family is with him.
He has movement in arms and legs.
No more details.

Good news so far. His replacement has 485 yards passing.

Well I pray he is ok. I hope this was not targeting or hitting him when he was unprotected. Last I saw the score it was 21-20 I think Cincy. RTR!

Memphis won the game: 53-46.  Crazy.

No targeting was called, but the Cincy people are pissed.  Last night I listened to a Cincy radio station after the game, and the announcer for the game said it was "clearly targeting".  ESPN announcers disagreed.  The refs reviewed it and concluded "no targeting".

Apparently Kiel has numbness in his hands, so he'll stay in the hospital.  He had a neck injury during a previous game this season, and missed much of that game.  Tuberville and staff decided he could play anyhow.

I watched the replay of the hit and it didn't look like targeting to me.  I think what caused his injury was his head hitting he turf.  Course, we probably need to consult with Danielson to be sure...

Last night I heard them mention he had numbness in his hands so that is not good news. It may be time for this young man to retire from football.

Hate to see this about Kiel.  He was fun to watch.  Prayers for a full recovery.

Cincy got ripped in this game.  Video review reversed a fumble call on the field during Memphis' game-winning drive, but it looked like a fumble to me (and the announcers).

Cincy got the ball back and was down near the red zone trying for a tie when Cincy's QB, while getting sacked, blindly chunked the ball forward  It bounced off his player's and into a Memphis defender for an INT.  No Ole Miss fluke play here.

Latest:

"Kiel was released from the hospital after the game and accompanied the team back to Cincinnati, Bearcats sports information director Ryan Koslen said in an email message to The Associated Press."

I hate that Kiel got injured but am glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been.  As for Cincy getting ripped?  Well, since that is Tubbyville's team it doesn't bother me all that bad...  Lips Sealed
