Not a doubt in my mind that one or more jurors have been compromised, bought off, threatened, etc. The slimeballs that want gambling in our state will stop at nothing...too much money involved.

I do hope this PO's the prosecutors enough that some slime gets on the barn.

A lobbyist in and of itself is not evil. Matter of fact under this current environment an industry wanting the ear of lawmakers would be foolish NOT to hire one. I'm just unsure why so many oppose legal gambling. If you don't like gambling, ignore it, but still enjoy any benefits that come from the tax revenuue.

The problem with gambling in Alabama is it does not get taxed. I don't gamble (much) but I am in favor of legalized gambling that brings in tax revenues. Mississippi casinos would take a big hit if Alabama would wake up and legalize it.

Yeah. That's a whole 'nother big azz subject. We have limited gambling here-- the dog and horse racing are particularly popular. Even the lottos are big in raising revenues for the state-- but at what cost in human misery and family strief? You never hear someone say, "Hit big on the poker machine last night. I'll pay my daughter's tuition with that". Even the winners give it right back.

Some people are going to gamble and some people are going to drink. They might as well tax it and help send my kids to school.

Much better to gamble the pay check away on something that produces tax revenue for things such as schools, than to squander it on auburn grad hookers.

I've seen that one too.  Those guys are idiots.  They sell Alabama and Auburn artwork, but they aren't smart enough to only show the Bama ads here.  I have thought about banning them just on the principle of it, but I kind of like their Bama ad.
