How are everyone's favorite teams doing 2 1/2 months into the season? O's are in fourth in the AL East, but surprisingly only 2.5 games out of first, and have won 11 out of their last 14. Bats finally coming alive, and pitching is slightly above average (though I worry about burning out our bullpen).

I would comment on soccer, but I know nothing.  Sad

Red Sox are 11 games under .500, 9 games out of the lead and in last place. Thanks for asking.

I am not a soccer fan yet. I only interest is USA pride.

The O's are going to top out at the right time. They are making me have more hope as the season wears on. RTR!

Mets perched atop of the NL East. Awaiting the inevitable plummet to the cellar.

Braves are 32-34, a .500 team at best. Their bullpen is a disaster. Of course, their "genius" GM gave away THE BEST reliever in all of baseball in order to dump an overpaid BJ Upton who was signed by the previous genius GM, Frank Wren. What a disaster & disappointment.

The Dodgers offense is in the pits, and our starting rotation is hurting.

We did manage to win a 1-0 game last night off a balk in the bottom of the 9th!

Hey HL I saw the replay on Sportscenter and that was the craziest thing I ever seen. I was trying to figure out how you call that a balk? RTR!

I didn't see it live, and the replay I saw only showed 3-4 seconds of the pitcher on the mound so I didn't see him set up into his wind-up really even.  Of course, a balk is to keep the pitcher from misleading the runner.  Part of that is once you come to rest in your motion with your hands together, your only move must be to home plate (i.e. finish your motion).  From what I could tell from the short clip he'd come to a rest in his wind-up, then he looked to third and flinched which the umpire interpreted as a move to try to hold the runner on/fool him.

I'm not a soccer fan, nor did I watch the game, but the US Women's team got a big win over Germany 2-0 last night. The win advances them into the finals on Sunday against the winner of the Japan-England game.

I watched it. The U.S. team looked great. They are peaking at the right time. They hustled to the ball every chance they got and flustered the Germans. Great win for the gals!

I know one thing for sure. Chris Davis of the Orioles is a dangerous man with a bat in his hands. Long ball hitter. RTR!

We are halfway thru the baseball regular season (81 games). Here's a brief rundown but I won't waste my time on the Dodgers or Yankees, except very slightly, since I can't stand them.

Braves: are 40-41, under .500. They will probably win 77-83 games. Braves are 5 games behind in their division. They are 7th in the NL (with 15 teams) in team batting average, last in homers, tied for 9th in doubles, & 12th in triples. In other words, they have no power & are singles hitting team. They are 9th in steals which adds to their scoring woes and lack of power hitting. They are 9th in runs scored, incredible considering the lack of any power. Their pitching is 8th in ERA, 8th in homers allowed, 10th in strikeouts,  & 4th in walks allowed. They are 7th in team fielding.

Orioles: 42-39 & 2 games behind the yankees. The Orioles are 5th in team batting average, 4th in homers, 13th in doubles, 7th in triples, & 5th in runs scored. Impressive overall hitting. They are last in steals & 4th in striking out which combined is really hurting them in scoring. They are 7th in team ERA, 3rd in saves, 8th in strikeouts, & 4th in most walks.

Tired of typing, will continue later.

Braves just lost 4-0 to Phillies, the worst team in all of baseball. Less than 19,000 in Atlanta in the stands. Those brilliant trades are really working for them, ain't they.
