Speaking Friday at an event in advance of their induction into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, former University of Alabama basketball stars Derrick McKey and Ennis Whatley both said they believe new coach Avery Johnson is a great fit for the Crimson Tide program.

McKey, who was the SEC Player of the Year for Alabama in 1987 and went on to be a first-round draft pick by the Seattle Sonics, said that Johnson has passion for the game and will bring that to Tuscaloosa.

I have read where several former players did not feel welcome back on campus by CAG. CAJ wants the alumni, especially the former greats, to feel welcome back in the program.

I had not heard that but it's not surprising. Grant was very introspective and not very outgoing. I think he regretted being the coach at Alabama.
