JK Scott made the initial pool of candidates to win the Ray Guy Award, and there's a good chance he'll be around when the herd is thinned in the coming weeks.

The freshman from Colorado is fifth in the nation in average yards per punt (46.6) and Alabama is No. 2 overall in net punting (43.56). Eleven of Scott's 27 punts have gone for 50 or more yards and 17 have been downed inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

I would also put him on the Alabama team MVP watch list along with Coop, Blake and Ragland.

"I think he's done a really good job all year long," Alabama coach Nick Saban said earlier this month. "He's changed field position on numerous occasions.

"I think he's done an outstanding job for us all year. Very talented."

Maybe it's not a worry, but he seems to have an extra step and takes a bit longer than most punters.  Hopefully I'm wrong and/or it won't bite us.

I was there for that stupid game, sitting in the west-side stands (only time at Legion Field on west side).

Everything about it sucked.
