"ESPN's Brett McMurphy is reporting that Brandon will resign today as Michigan's athletic director. The press conference will take place at 1:30."

Is Hoke next?  Or, maybe the question should be, "When will Hoke be fired?"

Yeah, heard that on radio around 11:20 am. First Brandon, then Hoke. Who do you all think replaces Hoke?

Dan Mullen
Les Miles (60 years old)

Who else?

 Huh?

Les Miles would be my first thought. Then, Dan Mullen for sure. CDM after building a program like he has at Miss. ST. would be the best in my opinion. We shall see. I bet the fans up there are worse than we are about this meltdown. RTR!

The once proud Michigan program has struggled big time in recent years. Alabama is  the blue print for major programs that you need a combination of a strong AD and a big name proven winner for coach. Michigan needs both. They suck in a Big 10/BIG that is the weakest as a conference as they have been in my lifetime.

Dan Mullen needs to jump ship while he is hot. He found lightning in a bottle this year but they are still Miss State and that means they will never be a consistent winner. There will be several good jobs open this year and Mullen's name will show up on most short lists.

Les Miles. I think he has found a home in Baton Rouge. They like him and he has done a good job for him. I think he stays at LSU.

Hugh Freeze and Gus Malzan will show up on everyone's radar. I think they both are happy where they are now but you never know when big names start throwing big dollars around.

I do not know who Michigan will get but I do not think it will be an SEC guy.

I'm thinking Florida will be after Mullen.  Whoever is interested will have to be patient, he's in the middle of a great season.

Except he's a Michigan guy and Michigan was his dream job.  Last time they didn't want to match his LSU salary; that, and some at Michigan didn't want him.  While Miles might entertain an offer if one comes (momma calling), I agree that he likely stays at LSU.

Some MI fans are tracing University plane routes, thinking it will be Harbaugh.

The Harbaugh brothers will both get an offer but they are both doing well in the NFL. Maybe one will take it but I doubt it. It is as good a guess as any IMO.

I hope Dan Mullen is preoccupied with job offers and interviews when State visits Tuscaloosa on Nov 15.

I agree about Mullen leaving while he is red hot. I think he goes to either Florida or Michigan. Mullen is from Pennsylvania, so he's not an outsider. Plus, Misses State loses 13 seniors and maybe 2 or 3 juniors after this year. That means they will be bad next year, plus Misses State can not compete with salary, recruiting, and facilities against most any other school. I don't know if Freeze stays at Ole Miss, they have same problems as Misses St., facilities & paying a large salary.

I can easily see Mullen going to Florida.

I live in central Florida, and I've actually had a couple of Florida fans tell me that they hope Florida loses the rest of their games this year so that Jeremy Foley will finally fire Muschamp.

The AD resignation info.

Quote
The Dave Brandon era in the Michigan athletic department officially ended Friday afternoon. The university's 11th athletic director handed in his resignation earlier this week amid a storm of controversy.

A string of athletic department mishaps in the past several months dominated headlines around the Michigan campus and served as a regular distraction at sporting events.

Quote
Brandon, the former CEO of Domino's Pizza, was hired as the athletic director in January 2010 and took office two months later. He spearheaded plans to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to upgrade the university's athletic facilities, and he increased the athletic department's revenue on a regular basis. He also increased spending and salaries, which led to a shrinking profit margin during his tenure.

His salary for the 2014-15 academic year was $900,000 and was scheduled to reach $1 million annually within the next two years.

Someone, I think, mentioned before that the reason Miles didn't go to Mich last time was because he and the AD didn't get along.

Regardless, it is perfect timing for LSU to have some clutter right now.  Maybe Miss State will have a case of clutter too.
