I saw this and thought it to be hilarious!

Over weight, out of shape, former boxer now has a reality show. Why?

Butterbean, the new sheriff in town!

Show was recorded in Jasper Alabama in Walker County. Butterbean's hometown.

Holy cow, I used to watch him box in Memphis. He was so fat, it was hard for his opponent to get close to him.

I never saw him in person.  Local TV networks would show Butterbean boxing during local sports.

He really wasn't half bad. He had fairly good skills and some power. He was just never in shape. He did, however, have a pretty good W/L record.

Yeah. 20 years ago, or longer, he was boxing some of the more famous boxers. That's when they would air his latest match on local sports TV.

He may have his work cut out for him. I don't know how it is now, but Jasper used to be a rough town.

I lived there for about 5 years until 2004. Not too bad, but just stay on the good side of the right people.

Yeah CB, it used to be known as a "Good ole boy" town and you didn't cross those "Good ole boys". But I'm talking 25-30 years ago. Don't know about now.

I have had customers over the last 20 years in Walker County. Jasper is kind of known for some bad homicides and felonies.

Bombs have been used on vehicles(even a Murray Tractor) to kill people. Drummond, and Bishop mined millions of dollars worth of coal in Walker,Tuscaloosa,Jefferson,Winston and others counties. The mining industry and the service mine industries funneled big money through Jasper.

For a small town it has lots of wealthy individuals.

Years ago, when I was a private investigator, I worked one of those cases in Jasper where someone was killed by a bomb. From what you're telling me, things apparently have not changed a whole lot.

I have not heard any stories in past 5 years or so, but I don't visit customers up there anymore. I always felt there was an organized crime element to the city and county. To the north of Walker county is Winston country and I still believe it is a dry county. Smith lake has thousands of high end lake homes.

I saw Butterbean and his son in Houma, La last year at a seafood restaurant and you should have seen the amount of food that was on the table. He was in town to do a benfit fight for some org in Houma. His son looked just like him short, fat, and bald.
