H-word no longer banned at Alabama football practice as extreme heat becomes a concern

The Tide hasn't practice in anything cooler than the 90s since the season opened. It was 97 degrees when it went outdoors Sept. 1 after a week inside prior to the Georgia Dome opener with West Virginia.

With temperatures topping out at 89 degrees Wednesday, Saban called the audible and jogged to the indoor complex.

"We wanted to get the practice reps that we needed to get, but not wear the players out and come out of practice with three or four guys that are zapped out this close to the game," Saban said.

It was 90 degrees in Gainesville on Monday before dipping to 78 Tuesday and back up to 86 Wednesday. The Gators don't have an indoor practice facility.

Interesting.  Maybe we should take up a collection.
