The NCAA Ref's have taken it upon themselves to dictate the pace of the game and not let the offense dictate pace. I think this is what CNS wanted. I did not like the 10 sec rule but if the ref's enforce this rule correctly it will benefit the defense. Letting the offense dictate the pace was a huge advantage. Get ready for the barners to complain.

Quote
"From the officiating standpoint, we kind of got caught up in this thing and allowed ourselves to sort of get overwhelmed by it," NCAA coordinator of officials Rogers Redding said. "Too much rushing around, hurrying and trying to be speedy about getting the ball in play and it sort of put the defense at a disadvantage."
Now, the officials are taking the pace back.

Formalizing ideas they've discussed among themselves over the past few seasons, the officials have added pace-of-play procedures in the football officiating mechanics manual.

This is exactly what CNS wanted and Kudos to the Refs for admitting their mistake and plan on correcting it. Applause E-Cred

Thanks for the post pmull, I feel better already but I'm anxious to see what is considered a normal pace of play.

Will be interesting to see what effect this has on pace of play.  And I'll guess that it won't be uniform from conf to conf.  If it slows the HUNH even a little bit  that would be good.

I agree. Jamos and his crowd have struck again. I wonder if Sims will be driving a Charger?

I don't care who gets blamed for this. I just know as long as there is a safety benefit for it, then so be it. Blame, tame or game. It don't matter. RTR!
