"We weren't really trying to go fast," coach Nick Saban said. "We can go fast, but to me, for us, it was a communication issue. It's easier to communicate when you're going no-huddle because you just have code words and short words for plays and passes and that kind of stuff. It eliminates the communication in the huddle, it makes it easier for the quarterback, so that's the reason that we went to it to settle Blake (Sims) down in the game."

It started in the middle of a second quarter drive when there were issues with formations and play calling. So after a 10-yard pass to Amari Cooper, Alabama jogged back to the line of scrimmage instead of the huddle. It took 18 seconds...

No huddle, no hurry offense.  Hmmm.

Doesn't really need to be when TOP is an entire quarter in your favor.

I wondered what was going on when I saw this. I just thought they were going to hit West VA. with their own weapon. I saw we went with a jog and boom another play. I think with us being a power football team we would just (traditional) huddle. RTR!

We did this years ago.  Our QB was having trouble getting the formation and play called so we would have everyone look over to the sideline for formation.  Then signal the play.  All the rec's and backs knew the signals.  We could even signal protection if needed.

Anybody remember Coach Bryant sending in plays on slips of paper?

We did this years ago.  Our QB was having trouble getting the formation and play called so we would have everyone look over to the sideline for formation.  Then signal the play.  All the rec's and backs knew the signals.  We could even signal protection if needed.

Does anyone know if they were signaling to BS the best options for the play given the defense?

That I don't know.  They may have been giving two signal a run or pass.  They could have had an automatic for certain defenses.
