Good morning.

Like so many of us, I slept in today.  Stayed up until midnight watching games.  Whew.

It's always a good day when Notre Dame loses to an SEC team and UCF loses.  Woot!

Good to see RE atop the picks again.  He's getting good at this crap.

I slept in too. It was worth staying up late to watch ND get beat.

My car is packed and ready to go for my fall golf trip. I'll be going dark for a few days, so y'all behave.

Anybody else remember when we played Mississippi Southern instead of Southern Mississippi?
My parents were from Hattiesburg. They and all my relatives there always called it Mississippi Southern. My father went to college there, and my grandfather donated some of the property that "Mississippi Southern" is on.
Impressive, 2. One wonders why they made such a subtle name change when you have to redo signs and all the paperwork referring to their school. API was a different matter, because they wanted to pretend they aren't a cow college.
They sure didn't fool anybody.

That looks an awful lot like Jerry Nadler...

Thanks Preacher.  I  do what I have to... Yesterday, while mowing my next-to-last yard I actually sustained an Achilles injury WHILE RIDING MY COMMERCIAL MOWER.  What?!?  Hard to explain but I was holding down the peddle that raises and lowers the mowing deck.  I was coming up out of the ditch and didn't want the blades to impact the ditch bank.  The front of the mower went up off the ground and as the rear of the mower came up the bank the front slammed down.  The impact forced the deck down pushing back hard on my foot stretching my Achilles pretty badly. It hurt initially but not bad.  After I finished mowing all of my yards I let Runt do some fishing since the last yard was a lakehouse.  I sat there with him and my tendon started to stiffen up.  By the time we got home it was very difficult and painful to walk.  I got a shower and then wrapped my ankle with an ACE bandage and iced it for about an hour while watching some TV.  This morning it was only slightly tender but I could walk on it ok.  Still a bit tender but I think it will be fine...

Good morning.  Coffee

Did Runt catch any fish?  Oh, and hope you're okay.

A buddy of mine came over yesterday, and we drove to the Tallahatchee Bridge to check the river level.  No, we didn't toss anything into the muddy waters.  There were 2 guys fishing, but didn't see them catch anything.  We had a good visit.

The competition starts getting tougher for Bama this week.  Ole Miss isn't a great deal better than USM, but they'll play hard.  Should be a good game and fun to watch.  The OM DBs are better than last year's, so they should challenge our receivers a bit.  But nobody can match Sark's schemes or run with our speed.

Good morning folks.  Nope, Runt didn't catch anything except Eel grass.  But he did catch a lot of that...

Short work week for me.  Wednesday night I'll be heading to Montgomery to spend the night, then Thursday morning heading on down to Osprey, FL.  Helping to move our preacher's mother from down there up to Scottsboro...Should be back late Friday evening...

Chech, you might be the person to tell me what Billie Joe MacAllister and his girlfriend tossed off the bridge.

NALT my friend you need to be safe on those big mowers. I had a dear friend I did his funeral, his mower turned over on him and killed him. Grass cutting is dangerous I have a bank I have to ride and cut up and down on also.
Glad the little one got to do some fishing. Hope he hangs a whopper. You all be safe today fall is here according to what I feel. RTR!

Preacher, mowing is dangerous.  It is actually MORE dangerous on the Zero-turn mowers.  I knew a guy that was mowing up on the edge of Sand mountain 2 years ago.  The yard was slanting downwards toward the bluff.  As his mower was going along he was unable to stop it and he went over the bluff about 200+ feet to a shelf where he died.

In case you are not aware, Zero-turn mowers are NOT designed to mow on a grade.  Going downhill they will not stop until the terrain levels off somewhat.  The best you can hope for is that the drive wheels (back tires) will somehow slow you down to allow you to turn.  I've taken several exciting rides while mowing at our church building.  Fortunately there isn't any real danger since there is a smooth transition from the yard into the ditch and the bank on the road side is high enough to prevent the mower from darting out into the road.
