Sorry, buddy.
Just that it seems ALL of us wake during the night for a bathroom break and find we have new pain.
I keep hoping I grow out of it.

Yeah, I get that and don't have a problem with it.  But this isn't just a "new pain."  This feels more like an injury that just happened.  Problem is, the last injury to this knee was back in the late 90's.  It really hasn't bothered me since until now.  And this pain is pretty bad.  If I bend the knee when I walk then it tries to buckle when I place my foot... Weird.

Sorry; not making light of your injury, just trying to liven the forum.
Clearly there's an issue that needs immediate attention.  Hopefully it's just swelling that causes the "buckle" issue, rather than a torn tissue or loose cartilage.
Keep us posted.

The injury back in the 90's was a tear.  Doc said at the time that it would only require surgery if I were a serious athlete.  I was on anti-inflammatory meds for a couple of years and eventually the pain went away.  Hasn't bothered me since.  This has come from out of nowhere and has me totally baffled.  The knee feels "loose" when I am standing with weight on my left leg and my right foot off the ground.  Hopefully the doc can see me quickly and provide some good answers.  I'm not holding my breath though at this point...

That's kind of unusual, Pappy.  I sure hope it's something that can be alleviated quickly.  Getting old stinks, or at least that's what y'all tell me.   Wink Tongue

Well, I saw a nurse practitioner who suggested that I probably twisted it somehow either getting into bed or while I slept.  I know it wasn't while I was asleep because I literally sleep like a dead man, flat on my back and never move. I did feel a very slight twinge when I was getting into the bed though... They gave me a double steroid shot in one hip and an anti-inflammatory shot in the other hip.  At work now so we'll see how this goes...

Maybe.  I got the shots about 4 hours ago and can already feel an improvement.  The pain isn't nearly as intense.

Glad to hear it. Don't go kicking any FGs, I don't care HOW bad you want to make Bama's team.
