Call it the Heavyweight Division. Or, as Nick Saban called it, the Super-Welterweight Division.

Alabama's head coach may not be up to speed on his boxing weights, but he's got an idea of what he thinks the future ought to be for college football as it moves forward with a four-team playoff in 2014.

I think 60 or 70 might be too many teams. Maybe 50, at most, are real football programs. Maybe a breakdown like this:

8 or 9 teams from the SEC
5 Big Ten teams
6 Pac 12 teams
4 or 5 Big 12 teams
5 ACC teams
3 Independents (Navy, N. Dame, Air Force)
2 or 3 Big East teams

Am I missing some?

 Huh?

I somehow get the feeling that we will be watching regular season college football games right up to Christmas time in the very near future.  Wink
