Many of you have been very supportive of my books through the years, as well as Crimson Replay. Thanks. I'm very appreciative. Now I want to offer you the chance to be a part of my next Alabama-related project.
THREE DAYS AT FOSTER is a documentary film, scheduled for release in early 2013, concerning the integration of Alabama football. I believe this is a story that is long overdue. It will be a definitive piece of journalism, giving Alabama's pioneering African-American athletes their due, dispelling some prevailing myths, and showing how the integration of the Bama program played a large role in healing the wounds of the Sixties. I have been planning this for several years. It is something I feel very strongly about, and I'm putting my own money behind it.
As you can imagine, making a documentary film is an expensive undertaking, and I'm raising part of the budget with a campaign on Kickstarter.com, the innovative "crowd-funding" site. You can invest a small amount of money and get a reward. For instance, $30 gets you a copy of the finished DVD and a commemorative poster. A $100 pledge gets you several cool items, and your name in the credits.
Here's the catch: We have just 30 days to meet our goal. So, in a very concrete sense, you can be a part of making sure that this important piece of Alabama history is understood and preserved.
