Now healthy, Tide's Lacy appears to be back to old self

It is good to see Lacy healthy. We should be in good shape with Fowler and Yelton backing up a healthy Lacy. Hart will play some as well to keep the defense off balance.

Earlier in training camp, Alabama coach Nick Saban credited Lacy’s hard work for rehabbing his injury and participating in the summer conditioning program.

“He hasn’t done a lot of cutting,” Saban said. “That will be … the next test.”

So when Lacy rushed for 57 yards on eight carries – an average of 7.1 yards per carry – there was relief and optimism in Saban’s voice.

“Eddie Lacy did a nice job,” the coach said. “We only wanted him to have six or eight carries, no more than 10. … He did a good job.”

Quarterback AJ McCarron noticed Lacy, from Geismar, La., looked like his old self.

“Eddie looks great. He looks light on his feet,” McCarron said Monday after the morning practice. “He’s making good cuts, catching the ball extremely well. I’m happy for him and I’m proud of him right now.”
