4. Finished decorating my Christmas tree and I guess I am just lucky, but Kupkake is able to come in after I have worked for hours and point out the mistakes I made. I guess it is just a gift! "His" Christmas tree!!! Where is an eye roll emoticon when you need one! Poor darling is so put upon.

Nalt - I don't know about plasma and LED things, but I do know about 40" or 50" screens. Hubby bought the 50" and now thinks he needs a 70" one! Doesn't matter that a 70" is way to big for the room. So just suck it in, go with the 50" and tell Kimberly to be grateful you haven't asked for a 70" one!

Anyone have a good giblet gravy recipe? That was never a staple in my house growing up. My Mom is getting up there (70 in January) so I've been handling the turkey the last few years to take some burden off her. I'd like to add some gravy to the menu this year.
Doc, Williams-Sonoma has a turkey gravy base that is really, really good. Highly recommend you give it a try. Doc- I just went on-line because the Williams Sonoma stores typically sell out of the turkey gravy base long before Thanksgiving. According to the web, the gravy is only available on the internet. Now the good news - it's been reduced from $10.95 for 18 oz to $4.99. I ordered 2 and with shipping it's still only $16.10. It won't be here in time for Thanksgiving but it is good to use all year long. I have no idea how to make good giblet gravy. My dad was the gravy cook at our house and since he just made it up as he went I have never been able to duplicate it.

For goodness sake, don't tell him to take that computer apart! It will end up in millions of pieces and him shouting at it! I try not to let him get hold of a screw driver or hammer if I can help it! Yes, believe it guys, I'm the mechanical one in this family! Then maybe you should take it apart. SuperCoach,my dear, then he will blame me for the whole thing! P.S. I did fix his last computer, a Sony notebook. It quit turning on when he pushed the button. He took it to Radio Shack, they kept it for ages, couldn't do anything. So he brought it home and I told him to just set it on the counter. Every day I would walk by it and push the button. Of course nothing happened. So one day I looked at it closely, cleaned all around it and pushed one more time. Voila, Sony turned on! It's been coming on ever since and that was about four years!

Since when is it someone's civic duty to engage in participate in civil unrest? Many fine black leaders in government positions (not necessarily political) did not participate in the marches, etc. I can name two that I worked with. They were fine conservatives, successful leaders and wonderful people. That is no measure of a leader.
Additionally, Socialist O'Donnell totally missed Mr. Cain's explanation of his role during the Vietnam War. Read the article and you will see O'Donnell doesn't bother listening, he just spouts his own propaganda. Do we think he asked Bill Clinton why he was a draft dodger? And what about Zero? Herman Cain served far better than they did.
The more I see how Mr. Cain handles these people the more I think he should be our Presidential candidate.

Thanks window licker! You said very eloquently what I have been sitting here try to compose and say! But I'm going to save mine to an support you fully. Here goes:
To BamaWV -
There is no magic answer to your statement. I don't believe any of the candidates have ever dealt with a situation like we have and can absolutely turn the mess around - but someone has to try and I believe Herman Cain with his corporate experience and Federal experience is as qualified, if not more, than the other candidates. It is a sure bet that the current occupant doesn't have a clue and doesn't want to try.
I'm ready to let someone with experience in the corporate and Federal worlds give it a try. I know from experience that politicians just want to "get along" and not make waves.
I worked for the Federal Government for 33 years. I was in a position in a regional office which put me in frequent contact with our Washington office personnel and I served on various task forces and made many trips to DC. NOTHING happens in the government in Washington.
Dear Jimmy Carter's Civil Service Reform Act resulted in the the system of political appointees (who incidentally spend their typical 18 mos. on the job polishing their resumes for their next job). These appointees believe that attending a meeting accomplishes something. So they hold a meeting, blather on, and then plan their next meeting - and think they have accomplished something. Ruffle feathers, fight fraud, simplify regulations, cut personnel - on no, this might look bad on a resume if something in doesn't work perfectly. So nothing happens - they do NOTHING but meet - they are afraid of making hard decisions.
Unfortunately, I believe this "don't make waves" mentality pervades Washington and our political system. I'm ready for an outsider to shake it up.
I also like that Mr. Cain talks straight and isn't "politically correct". I like his tax plan which while not perfect is a whole lot better than the travesty we live with now.I'll take him in either position but I sure would like to see him as President.
And and as an aside - wouldn't a race between two black men be very interesting - assuming the Democrats let Obama run.
