The iPads will be loaned to the athletes to maximize their study time, help them to participate in interactive and online education apps and make use of other digital downloads and books. "Loaned" is the operative word to avoid any violations. It's a clever idea, I suspect Bama will be doing it soon. My daughter's school loans out netbooks for the school year to all kids starting in the 5th grade. Huntsville's new school superintendent has some clever ways to finance things.

As for Bateman's performance at the camp, 247Sports recruiting analyst Barton Simmons named Bateman one of the event's top performers.
"From snap to release, Bateman was cleaner than any quarterback in attendance," Simmons said. "He's got great feet, he is well-coached and polished, and his delivery looks like you want a quarterback to look like."

Also, they are hanging their hat on Urban Meyer (the SEC left over) and Michigan's Brady Hoke. These teams are going to run things that the SEC have already figured out are not going to win big with out Big time talaent, which the Big Ten lacks.
Meyer and Hoke both recruit extremely well, so I wouldn't count them out just yet. But you are right, Saban (and probably Miles too) has figured out how to beat Meyer's offense, and while Michigan is on the upswing they are still another year or two away. Bama owning Michigan on September 1 won't help them either. It does remain to be seen how important this new bowl game becomes. If the SEC continues to place a team in the BCSCG every year, then the bowl might not become as important as it looks on paper. The new bowl likely will be played in Dallas, giving Jerry Jones the big-time college bowl he has been wanting for his new stadium. And likely will become a BCS game. But what happens to the Sugar Bowl?

Tight end? How cool would that be if the kid has some speed and hands. At 6'4" he'd be above the crowd, and at 285 he would not be easy to bring down.
That would be cool. They have him projected at DE, but Saban is known to find the right fit for players projected elsewhere (including Sunseri and Smelley).

Check the recruiting thread.... I meant my radar The guy apparently slipped under most recruiters radar, but Saban saw something he liked -- maybe that the guy is big and athletic -- and we probably will learn more about him once he arrives on campus and starts making a name for himself.

I don't want them to forget. I want them to remember. Every time they see the color crimson, or an elephant, or Nick Saban, I want it to hit them in the gut that the lost that game. I want their kids to remember. I want their grandkids to remember, or at least feel that they, too, were there, when a wave of crimson rolled over their tigers, and they kept to their own end of the field.

I was surprised how low UF qb was rated and can't wait to see how those exBig 12 qbs do in the SEC.
Driskel will have to prove himself I think. I know he was playing as a true freshman last year, but he sure didn't show much. He was doing pretty well against Bama until he got hurt. Wasn't that Brantley that CU broke? I think Brantley was out for the season, but Driskel also was banged up in that game as well, and the third string QB played at LSU. But Brantley looked OK v. Bama, Driskel was a deer in the headlights.
