27856  Around Campus / Canterbury Chapel / Daily Scripture 1/9/12 Perfection on: January 09, 2012, 01:51:53 PM
"2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

Many people today love to question the Bible’s authenticity. But really, there are only three possibilities when you consider Jesus Christ and His belief in the Bible.
One possibility is that errors existed in the Bible and Jesus didn’t know it… that He was a man of His times and just didn’t have the scientific and theological knowledge of our scholars today. Of course, if you choose that possibility, you’re faced with the fact that Jesus Christ—who is God—had no knowledge of the errors that supposedly were contained in the Scriptures. How can God not know His own word?
The second possibility is that there were errors in the Bible and Jesus knew about the errors, but said nothing about it and covered it up. But if you accept that explanation, you’re dealing with the issue of the truthfulness and the integrity of Jesus Himself, which I don’t think is a good road to travel!
The third option is that the Bible is inerrant. When you look at these three options, that’s really the only one that makes sense. So as you read the Scriptures, remember that you can have full confidence in the authority of the Word of God!

Father glorify you with our words today. We love and cherish you forevermore. We than you for the reading of your word and the truth that it brings. Forgive us our sins and keep us safe from the evil one. Help us oh Lord, to have a New Year that makes us even more hungry for your Word. AMEN

I think President O'Bama is one and done. The only problem is, he is our Commander-in-Chief and as a veteran I have to respect his office. I hope the Republicans don't harm themselves so bad nobody votes for them. God Bless America! RTR!
27860  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: langham on: January 08, 2012, 02:50:56 PM
He was a great player, but he did the U of A wrong. I will however say, we don't have any choice, we have to forgive him, which I did many years ago. I have learned a lot of humility from reading my Bible. I know there has to be forgiveness to get forgiveness. JMHO! RTR!

Well Ron Paul said last night he had no intentions of running on an Independent ticket. He never said he would support the parties winner though. RTR!
27862  Around Campus / Canterbury Chapel / Daily Scripture 1/8/12 The Viel that opened for our Words on: January 08, 2012, 02:39:48 PM
"Exodus 28:38 And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD."

What a veil is lifted up by these words, and what a disclosure is made! It will be humbling and profitable for us to pause awhile and see this sad sight. The iniquities of our public worship, its hypocrisy, formality, lukewarmness, irreverence, wandering of heart and forgetfulness of God, what a full measure have we there! Our work for the Lord, its emulation, selfishness, carelessness, slackness, unbelief, what a mass of defilement is there! Our private devotions, their laxity, coldness, neglect, sleepiness, and vanity, what a mountain of dead earth is there!  If we looked more carefully we should find this iniquity to be far greater than appears at first sight. Dr. Payson, writing to his brother, says, "My parish, as well as my heart, very much resembles the garden of the sluggard; and what is worse, I find that very many of my desires for the melioration of both, proceed either from pride or vanity or indolence. I look at the weeds which overspread my garden, and breathe out an earnest wish that they were eradicated. But why? What prompts the wish? It may be that I may walk out and say to myself, 'In what fine order is my garden kept!' This is pride. Or, it may be that my neighbours may look over the wall and say, 'How finely your garden flourishes!' This is vanity. Or I may wish for the destruction of the weeds, because I am weary of pulling them up. This is indolence." So that even our desires after holiness may be polluted by ill motives. Under the greenest sods worms hide themselves; we need not look long to discover them. How cheering is the thought, that when the High Priest bore the iniquity of the holy things he wore upon his brow the words, "HOLINESS TO THE LORD:" and even so while Jesus bears our sin, He presents before His Father's face not our unholiness, but his own holiness. O for grace to view our great High Priest by the eye of faith!

Father us to understand the words we use when we pray. Lord, we need to not only pray for what we think, but pray that the Holy Ghost is not ashamed to bring our prayer before you. In God we Trust, and in the name of Jesus of Nazareth I pray. AMEN

I don't think SMU will be the same next year without June Jones. RTR!
He got a big raise moving to SMU, but HC of Hawaii seemed like a pretty good job.

I thought he was named a Head Coach for another team next year but I may be wrong. Please correct me if I am. RTR!
27864  Around Campus / Canterbury Chapel / Daily Scripture 1/7/12 Live & Die on: January 07, 2012, 01:23:15 PM
"Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

The believer did not always live to Christ. He began to do so when God the Holy Spirit convinced him of sin, and when by grace he was brought to see the dying Saviour making a propitiation for his guilt. From the moment of the new and celestial birth the man begins to live to Christ. Jesus is to believers the one pearl of great price, for whom we are willing to part with all that we have. He has so completely won our love, that it beats alone for Him; to His glory we would live, and in defence of His gospel we would die; He is the pattern of our life, and the model after which we would sculpture our character. Paul's words mean more than most men think; they imply that the aim and end of his life was Christ--nay, his life itself was Jesus. In the words of an ancient saint, he did eat, and drink, and sleep eternal life. Jesus was his very breath, the soul of his soul, the heart of his heart, the life of his life. Can you say, as a professing Christian, that you live up to this idea? Can you honestly say that for you to live is Christ? Your business--are you doing it for Christ? Is it not done for self- aggrandizement and for family advantage? Do you ask, "Is that a mean reason?" For the Christian it is. He professes to live for Christ; how can he live for another object without committing a spiritual adultery? Many there are who carry out this principle in some measure; but who is there that dare say that he hath lived wholly for Christ as the apostle did? Yet, this alone is the true life of a Christian--its source, its sustenance, its fashion, its end, all gathered up in one word--Christ Jesus. Lord, accept me; I here present myself, praying to live only in Thee and to Thee. Let me be as the bullock which stands between the plough and the altar, to work or to be sacrificed; and let my motto be, "Ready for either." God Bless!

Father we Praise you this day. Teach us how to live in Christ, and to walk in his ways that we may bring goodness to this world. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN

"Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service."

America's most recent Medal of Honor winner, Sergeant Dakota Meyer, was responsible for rescuing nearly three dozen comrades during a 2009 battle in Afghanistan. Over a six-hour period, he made five different trips into harm's way to rescue wounded and fallen fellow soldiers. After the conflict, reflecting on what he had done, then-Corporal Meyer stated, "I didn't think I was going to die. I knew I was."
That attitude--setting out expecting to die--is a heroic one when it comes to military conflict. But it has a parallel in the spiritual realm that is expected of every Christian: death to self when we choose to follow Christ as His disciple. Paul expresses the idea best in Romans 12:1 when he talks about presenting ourselves as a living sacrifice to God. We live, yet we live as those who have died to self, sin, and the system of this world.
The very first act of stewardship we must carry out is dedicating all we have and all we are to God for His glory. It's what good stewards do--giving up everything to live for the Master.

Father we hallow your name above all names. May we always stand before you presenting our bodies Holy as you want them. Keep us clean and strong oh Lord that we may do your work at all times. In the name of Jesus I pray. AMEN

Well 2 more young men have chosen a good thing. Welcome aboard guys. If a Mom of a child does not respect her child's' choices then she must have raised him not to be a man. Now I think he showed he was a man and chose his future in the right way. RTR!

My question would be what kind of language is going to be used around your kids. You and I know that people get out some vulgar words at gatherings to impress or look big! I would be very careful as there are many places to watch the game. RTR!
27870  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: AP voters discuss possibility of split Nat. title on: January 05, 2012, 12:51:21 PM
So now LSU beat us on our field by 3 points in OT. Now, when we come out and win by 7 or more on their "home field pretty much where they have never lost" it should be a split National Championship! Vern and Gary I owe you an apology you are not the less intelligent people in college sports. There is one trophy and somebody is going home with the BCS trophy. They won't cut it in half so how in the world could there be a split decision? RTR!
