Good morning (posting from home).

Prayers to Preacher and Dottie.   Pray

@ 2:  Can't believe the golfballing course is still open, but happy for you.  Hope it lasts.

I'm just tying flies for fishing out west (fingers crossed) and listing knives on Ebay.  Everybody is sitting home in much of the country, so I hope they will spend some of that money before inflation gobbles it.

Is this a sports forum?     Mississippi finally approved sports betting last year, and planned on huge profits for the state.  How's that working??  Bummer.

Rain coming here again.  We had sprinkles only yesterday.  LF and I went for a walk (gym is closed).  It was 66 and HUMID; sticky and sweaty.  She walks FAST.

Yeah, I've got to find a new pacle to walk. They officially closed the mall here yesterday. I guess I'll go back to walking the golf course.

At least this virus crap waited for spring, so we can walk outdoors.  I think everyone's yards will be very tidy this year!

Have your plans changed any for your trip out West?

No changes yet.  Hopefully I'll leave Oxford May 15th, and be in West Yellowstone the next day.
Just hope the park is open and/or the fish are biting in Hebgen Lake.

Mrs. J and I were thinking about your trip recently and now the virus has hit we were wondering if the park would stay open.

It was another win for Bama and it wasn't pretty but it was another win and that is very important as we get close to tournament time. If there is one huge positive with the team so far it is the number of fans turning out for the games. The last three games have been well attended, over 10,000 at each game with one being a sellout and another very close to a sellout and that was one of their major goals for this season, put the fans back in the seats. The games are sometimes tough to watch but I see a lot of effort from this team and that is something I haven't seen in many years at Coleman. I think Coach Oats will recruit well and there are brighter days ahead for the program.

Thanks J. How is the atmosphere in Coleman these days?

Very loud and rocking, The students are coming out in large numbers and the season ticket
holders are using their tickets better. I haven't seen this atmosphere since the good days of Wimp. The team has a ways to go but there is a lot of energy and effort and that is a coach's best friend. Looking ahead, I don't think Oats will have any problem recruiting because the players love the style of play that he is coaching. Hopefully the players will work on their turnover percentage and the wins will come.

Nobody here went to the last home game of the season?

I went to the game. Cold and windy. Smallest Bryant Denny crowd I have ever seen.
I was there and thought the crowd was pretty good, there were 102,000 sold. I have seen a lot less fans there than were there yesterday and the students hung around better than usual too, There were less students there, I agree.

Good morning! Monday's out of the way, so it's downhill from here, right?

Watched the Skins match til about 9:30 but couldn't hang. They were playing in Japan, so it wouldn't have ended until 11-12 O'clock, so I pulled a Chech and recorded the rest.

Looks like we got about 1/4 inch of rain overnight. Thank Heavens the system lost a lot of it's punch by the time it got here. There's a little more on the way, but nothing to take notice of.

4 days to go for the CRS get-together, and maybe the most anticipated game of the year so far. Mac will be at the helm, and all eyes will be on him.

What is our time frame for this?

A quick (true) story.

We have a neighbor cat that hangs out on our back porch for food.  Friday night I heard rain outside and decided to feed the outside cat and watch the rain.  I put some cat food on a table we have on our back porch and walked to the edge of of the porch.  It was pitch dark because of the rain and I didn't have the porch light on.  While I was standing I heard the cat crunching food behind me and I backed up and petted the cat which was on the table eating.  I noticed two things, the cat was wet and its fur was much too course, and the cat was rubbing against my leg!!!   Shocked  I snatched my hand away, turned on the porch light and saw a possum jump from the table and stand next to the cat starring at me.  The possum seemed not to be afraid of me in the least and also seemed to have made friends with the cat.  Talk about time slowing down.  It seemed to take forever for my brain to process the fact that I couldn't be petting the cat, and God only knew what I had my right hand on.

I've stopped feeding the possum in hopes he will stop visiting.
Laughing Laughing

That's a goodie.  I hope Jamos sees this.

I have to admit, that's one of the best. I noticed that he didn't have to go change his pants. Applause E-Cred

Wills gets 15 for "jumping on the pile".

Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh?

Seems like it was about this same time last year that the team started the "retaliation" part of their game and we got all those penalties as well as suspensions. Cecil Hurt had a good article in the Tuscaloosa News today in reference to Nick Saban's "Rat Poison" theory of last years downfall of the team toward the 2nd half of the season.

Guess who the totem pole holder is this week?

At least I think it's me. I went 3-7, so I had the major suck.  Sad

Heading back to SC shortly. I normally would dread the drive, but I have a new truck to road test.  Cool

Looks like someone is stepping up in this world, a new truck.  Cheesy:clap:
25  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Bama's 5 Star QB Commit Plays on TV Tonight on: October 12, 2019, 08:54:17 PM
The announcers talked about Bryce Young playing at Alabama.  They said he will be an early enrollee at Alabama (start next January).  They suggested that he should compete well as a starter next fall.

 Stars

Never know, but he looks pretty raw now.  He holds the ball loosely when scrambling, has been taught in an undisciplined system (he calls many of his own plays), and is used to wide-open receivers.

But no denying he's a talent.  Glad to have him at Alabama!

I agree with you, he's a high school qb, got a ways to go.

Saturday morning:

It was chilly and windy, so I only went out birding about an hour.
No hummers.  Looks like the one female that'd been here daily finally went south with that cold front.
Lots of robins, blue jays, and woodpeckers in the treetops eating black-gum berries.
My buddy across town sent me a video of a Barred Owl calling at daybreak (not much of a video, but good audio).
There were a few Summer Tanagers in the treetops too, and I saw on Towhee.
And there were a few more female grosbeaks, but no males yet.

Mrs. J and I were just looking at your bird pictures, just beautiful. Applause E-Cred Applause E-Cred

House Finch

Red-eyed Vireo (you can see its red eye in the lower pic)

If you don't know, try another thread.

Downey Woodpecker (not very cooperative today)

Wow the pics are just great, as usual. Applause E-Cred

Yes it was a very, very hot day and the players seemed to handle it pretty good. It took Tua 3 plays to get the ball into the end zone from 60 yards out to start the scrimmage. Tua is Tua and not much more too say about him, he's a ballplayer. The kicking game seems better with the addition of Reichard, he has a very strong leg, punting and place kicking.

it was hard to judge how good the team is at this point in time as CNS was practicing everyone that was healthy. Mac Jones seems settled in in the reserve role but he didn't look as sharp to day as he did in the ADay game. Harris and Robinson both looked good running the ball, Robinson can be a beast when he has to, hard to bring down. Waddle dropped a few jocks with his quick cuts when he had a chance to run with the ball, he is something else to watch.

I though both the offensive and defensive lines had their moments but again it was practice with a lot of new faces. Same with the Dbacks and the receivers, there were some good catches and some good pass defense.

CNS stated that there are some injuries that need to heal and he's looking for leaders on the team. He felt that the lack of leadership was the main ingredient that was missing last year and is now working hard with the players to establish that leadership mentality in them.

Greg Byrne and CNS both talked about the Bama scheduling issue that seems to bother so many Bama critics for not being tough enough. Both stated that they are searching country wide for the better games but very few of those opponents want the Bama game. Byrne stated that most schools are booked through the 2020's already.

It was a fun day and I think this team can be as good as they want to be but we need Mother Luck to become more visible in the locker room for a change and be a blessing for the team. Injuries have really taken it's toll the past few years.
