Around Campus / The Quad / Running up the score and power ratings:

When does it become running up the score? Why is Case Keenum throwing TD passes in the 4th quarter when leading 62-34? I can say the same about OU. Clearly KSU is finished in the 4th quarter and Landry Jones is still in there, 44-17, at this point. I know they are trying to get Heisman votes, but why in the world would someone vote for this person when it is clear they are playing such an inferior team. Also, it looks as if the OSU QB played the whole game. On the subject of power rankings/strength of schedule, how can a PAC, whatever the number is, be ranked ahead of an SEC team? Even, the Big 12 with their numbers. Let's look at TT beats Ou and then loses to ISU. What power does that confernce have? I have included the strenght of schedule rankings, according to the experts. Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Alabama football notes for Saturday's open date - Maze vs Mathieu matchup?

It will probably be a safety who has to roll coverage to him. Also the RB's are bigger than him, when they get a shot they need to make it count. Problem is they usually overload one side where he come free. That is why Bama needs to burn them on his blitz.
Since we don't have a big JJ type receiver this year, anything to get MM or DH off the LOS free is a good thing, huh? I just asked about what a "hot read" was this summer-- but is that where that kicks in? The hot read is where you know you need to get rid of the ball in a hurry. These days teams will send a DB and cover with a dropping DE/LB.

Say the rec has a post and his guy is blitzing he now runs a slant or something comparable. Getting off the LOS will be big because it looks like the LSU defenders are physical. Motion can help get them off the LOS along with bunch formations.

Thanks hscoach. E-cred for sure. I agree that the O-line didn't do in first half as I wanted them to. TR will not get the Heisman Trophy if he don't get his yardage up. Either way it's not all about that but winning. I hope they block better especially in the middle the next game. This is a Long Train Running coming up next and we are gonna might them head-on. RTR!
I think TR still has a chance for the Heisman, especially if he has a huge game against LSU. He would still have the SEC championship game and possible NC game. This of course is if they take care of business and wins out. The main focus is a NC and a Heisman Trophy is like icing on a cake, By the way thanks to all of you who read, enjoy, and comment. Roll Tide The big show with BATR is when he runs, 10 or 15 yards at a time, all the way down the field. The rest of the country is not going to sit around all day watching him drag LSU or the barn down the field. They like 80 yard strikes that you can fit 3 or 4 on a 30 second video clip. Its kind of like their defense outside the SEC,-- too much trouble to fool with. BTW, the Heisman vote is before Christmas so the NCG won't even be counted. I agree they do like those long TD passes. However, MI turned some heads when he ran the wildcat against USC that year. Yea, kind of forgot about the NCG after the voting.

Around Campus / The Quad / I got to thinking today...

and I became a little disappointed in Bama. I am disappointed because they let inferior teams, like UT, stick around and it cost the backups valuable playing time. Don't get me wrong, I am glad Bama won the games. However, it hurts Bama's future by allowing backup players to get quality game time. This is just my opinion.
