Bama kicked off the 2022 season with a 11-0 five inning win over Utah State

Freshman 2nd baseman Megan Bloodworth hit a grand slam HR in her 1st At Bat.

She hit a solol HR in her second AB

Shipman and Dowling also had HR's

Torrance pitched 5 shut out innings allowing only 1 hit.

Tomorrow we will play Oregon St and then Arizona.  

Probably get to see Fouts and Killfoyle tomorrow.

Bama wins two in Arizona today

1st Game:  Fouts struck out 14, Freshman Megan Bloodworth had a HR, her third in last 2 games.  Bama  beats Oregon State 5-1.

2nd Game:  Bama runs rules #7 ranked Arizona 11-0 in 5 innings. Kilfoyle went the distance in the circle, started the scoring in the 3rd inning with a massive HR.
Newcomer 3rd baseman Prange had 2 HRs and a triple, Doerr had a HR, as did Freshman Dallis Goodnight.

Bama has hit 10 HRs in the 1st 3 games.  Last year we had a total of 41 HRs for the season.  Be looking for more fire power from the offense this year.

Thanks again Leewillie. This firepower has me excited. Murph has always had good teams, but there has never been a lot of power on his teams. Hemphill provided the majority of the HRs over the past few years.

The pitching will be strong again this year. That's a good combination.

After the game on Sunday against New Mexico the Bama ladies are 4-0.  The margin for scoring is currently 35-4 in our favor.  35 points.  I just hope they don't fizzle out when they start playing the SEC games... That begins March 11 @ LSU for a series. They will be playing Mississippi State in T-town during the A-Day weekend. 

With one game left to play in the Easton BAMA Bash, our ladies have added 4 more wins including 2 over #8 Virginia Tech. Run rule wins over MTSU and Evansville.  The final game with MTSU is today at 1:30.  ROLL TIDE!!!

And Bama won it 9-1.  #+

I saw #1 Oklahoma was losing to Tennessee at one point yesterday.  I'm not sure how that turned out, but Bama may be #1 in the next poll.

Okla won 9-8 in 10 innings.   :(

I can't complain about the results but we seem to have lost a little offense this week.

The ladies are currently 15-0 on the year.  5-0 at home, 2-0 away, and 8-0 at neutral sites.

They have scored 102 runs and only given up 13 runs.  Of the 15 wins, they have gotten 8 shutouts and have only given up 3 runs in two game, 2 runs in two games, and only 1 run in three games.

Our hitters have 17 HRs and to only 3 from our opponents. 113 singles to 62 by our opponents, 21 doubles to 4 otherwise, and 4 triples and given up none.

We missed Lexi yesterday. Torrance started against Texas and Foust had to relieve her in the 4th after pitching a complete 7 inning game on Friday. Foust had to relieve Salter in the second game against Miami (Ohio). She pitched 3.2 innings in both games. Bama got both wins 3-1 over UT and 4-2 over Miami. We are now 19-0.

Lexi was not in uniform and wearing a walking boot during the games yesterday. They do not know how long she will be out.

Our ladies suffer their first loss of the season to number 21 LSU.  13-6.  ROLL TIDE!!!

It was a strange day for the ladies at LSU. When Foust came out wild and walking everyone it was like the team got out of sync and stayed there the rest of the day.

We need a win today to avoid the sweep.

Going to the 6th inning, Bama up 4-1.

Ole blue is kicking our ass. A walk with yet another questionable call, and an error, set the table for a 2 out, 3 run homer for FSU. Going to the bottom of the 6th tied 4-4.

Errors, mental errors and Ole Blue did us in. FSU wins 6-5.

With FOUR unearned runs.  I agree about the bad call but we also committed a mental error that cost us a run.

Well we won't win them all. We are still a good team. RTR!

I didn't get to see the game last night, but our softball team seems to have hit a ceiling under Murph.  I know he's well loved and made our program into a national contender, but the rest of the SEC and lots of teams east of the mighty Mississipp (previously only Michigan was a national contender in the east) seem to have caught up or passed.  We need some kind of influx of new blood/innovation.   It's something Saban has managed to do with the football program that longtime coaches generally struggle with.

Saban manages to do it because all of his coaches leave every year or two to take a head coaching job somewhere.  :lol2:

BAMA stages a comeback win over South Carolina 7-5.  Fouts got stronger as the game went on and the ladies got a pinch hit walk and a pinch hit grand slam in the bottom of the 5th plus an insurance one run homer in the 6th (I think).  ROLL TIDE!!!

Today's win was 10-2 behind Lexi Kilfoyle's 11 strikeout complete game.  Highlight was Ally Shipman's 3 run inside the park home run!  Ribs have been on the smoker for four hours and will be ready in about 45 minutes.  All around pretty good day!  ROLL TIDE!!!

Fouts has SIXTEEN Ks on her way to a complete game win 6-1 over South Carolina.  BAMA sweeps the series.  ROLL TIDE!!!!

They really needed this sweep, both for national ranking and confidence boost. I hope they are starting to gel now. After a couple of mid-week OOC games, the girls go to Athens to play a 3 game series with #21 ranked Georgia. Will be a real test for them.

I hope we don't get a #1 ranking cause when we do we don't play as well. RTR!

Pitching and fielding both went south on us tonight.  Florida wins 12-7.  Bummer.  ROLL TIDE!!!

We won the Series 2-1 on the road against #6 Florida. The two wins over the weekend propelled us to #2 in the polls. We are in second place in the SEC one game behind Arkansas. The toughest part of our regular season is behind us with only Miss St, A&M, and Missouri SEC series remaining. We are in good shape to secure a Top 8 Regional Host Seed which would keep us at home through the Super Regionals.

Team 26 is solid top to bottom and poised to make a CWWS run.

Gonna be hard work beating these teams this year. RTR!

A shout out to my niece's high school team (that my BiL coaches) - they played a tournament yesterday.  They're a small 3A school and beat two 7A schools (Florence and James Clemens of Madison) before losing to 6A Muscle Shoals.   A good showing!

The ladies completed the sweep of Miss. St. 4-0. Fouts with a 3 hit shutout. :clap:

BAMA wins the first game of today's doubleheader 6-1 vs. North Alabama.  Second game against Alcorn just started.  ROLL TIDE!!!

We are not as hot as we was at the beginning of the year. RTR!

Well, the competition IS better.  My concern is that this team seems to play to the level of their competition.  They've done well against highly regarded teams, not so much with lesser squads.  This has hurt in the conference and is dangerous in the tournament and the series.  ROLL TIDE!!!

I haven't followed it enough to know, but my question would be, "Is it because Murph is playing a different line up against weak squads to get players experience, or are they just not getting motivated?"

I know most every team saves their best pitchers for the weekend conference schedule, so sometimes the middle of the week matchups are duds.

Montana Fouts and Lexi Kilfoyle were te starters in the first two games at A&M.

Bama lost to Western KY 3-1.

And, once again, Torrance let us fall to 3-0 in the bottom of the 1st.  Fouts came in and we didn't give up another run.  Murph needs to get some things figured out during this break.

The ladies fell 3-2 in 8 innings to #23 Missouri last night.  Play them again today.  Kilfoyle is, apparently not available.

We started hot but it almost reminds me of the Atlanta braves. RTR!

Prange's 3 run homer was the difference in the game. The left fielder got a glove on it, causing it to hit the top of the wall and fall back onto the field. After review, the ump ruled it a HR. The Mizzou players and the announcers were incredulous because of the ruling. They need to learn the rules. A ball hitting the top of the wall is a home run. Anyway, good game.

BTW, I saw Mr. and Mrs. Jamos sitting behind home plate. They were looking good. I think Jamos got a new hat.  :lol2:

And the BAMA ladies lose to Missouri in their first, and last, game of the SEC tournament 3-1.  So we wait for selection Sunday to see where and who we play in the CWS.

Murph seems to have maxed out.  He set a level of excellence for SEC softball and the University invested.  We've done well.   But he's been lapped, and shows no answer for it.   He's just not shown an ability to field a powerful offense, and Fouts (at the present) or his ace can only take him so far at this point.   Everyone's defense is so good now, slap and run isn't what's going to win it all.

He also has a habit of "inbredding" where he hires his players as assistants.  That's not the way to progress a program.  It tends to multiply the weakness.

It will be interesting to see if we get a top 8 seed. I feel certain we get to host a Regional but we may have to go on the road for the Supers, assuming we can score enough runs to win our Regional.

Something happened mid-season.  Have no idea what.  We played some good teams before the conference started and our pitching, batting and fielding were all, for the most part, outstanding.  Then we went to Baton Rouge and everything went to Hades.  Never regained our hitting and silly errors in the field.  Pitching, for the most part, stayed ok.  Someone who knows more than I may have a better explanation.  I can only assume something mental/emotional?

We are being projected as a Top 8 seed. Our 41-11 record, RPI, and strength of schedule are all very good. USA Today Sports Network projects us as #5. Other SEC teams expected to host #4 Arkansas, #7 UT, #12 Florida, and #16 Mizzou.

Currently 9 SEC teams are ranked.

All our goals are still possible. We need the bats to wake up. Freshmen CF Goodnight and 2B Bloodworth started the season on fire, both are now benched. Junior Jenna Johnson looked like our best hitter early in the season, her bat has gone cold. I am not sure what has happened to Tow. We have been looking for a RF player who could get on base all year. We have been relying on Prange, Shipment Dowling, and Doerr. That is not enough bats. 

Montana Foust must feel the weight of the team on her shoulders. She needs to be near perfect each game lately. Kilfoyl being hurt has been a big blow. We need her back for the Regional/Supers. Our other pitchers are not SEC/Tournament ready.

I am not giving up on this team. I am also not down on Coach Murphy. I think it is as simple as this is not one of his better teams. Thank goodness for the Transfer Portal. Where would we be without Prange and Shipman. I do not know anything about Softball recruiting but I look for Murphy to search the portal again this offseason.

Our BAMA ladies come back from the dead by beating Chattanooga last night and Stanford today!  Elimination game today in 30 minutes!  ROLL TIDE!!!

And the softball season ends with a 6-0 loss to Stanford.  No support for a heroic effort by Montana Fouts.  ROLL TIDE!!!

When I originally saw the 6-0 score, I immediately thought it must still be Saturday's game.  Nope.

With Fouts leaving, Murph may be in trouble next year.   He'd better be thinking about some staff changes.

Really disappointing after such a great start to the season. Not sure what happened, but certainly not typical of a Murph coached team.

Re:Fouts leaving.  The only references I've seen to anyone's career being over are about Kaylee Tow.  Earlier I saw an interview with Fouts and Murph where she was asked if she'd come back and she responded with "If he'll have me."  So maybe she still has her covid season if she wants it?  Sure seems like she's been around for a LOOONNNNGGG time!  I'd love to see her with one more season and a healthy Lexi Kilfoyle.

Ah, I wasn't thinking about the "COVID season" stuff still being in effect.

Stanford is actually getting to host their Super Regional, because Oregon St also beat Tennessee (which was the seeded regional host).  So I wouldn't be surprised to see them advance to the CWWS.

Leewillie, I talked to Jamos and he thinks something might be going on with the coaching staff. He thinks the girls aren’t being coached up enough. Other than that, I don’t think he’s really sure.
