Nate Oats and Alabama basketball have reeled in yet another elite prospect in the class of 2021, this time in four-star center Charles Bediako from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy. The nation’s No. 4 center and the No. 26 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings, committed to the Crimson Tide over Duke, Michigan, Ohio State, and Texas, among others.

Bediako is the fourth Tide pledge, joining five-star point guard JD Davison, four-star small forward Jusaun Holt, and four-star junior college forward Langston Wilson.

Great class.  Not exactly sure why Oats' system would draw in a top ranked center, but mighty glad to have him!

247 Composite now has Bama's 2021 recruiting class as the #3 in the nation!!!   It's a virtual tie (hundredths of points) with #2 Florida St at that.

One thing for sure we have some of the hardest working coaches in recruiting in college sports. We need baseball to come on board with great recruiting and let's win titles in all sports. RTR!

It keeps getting better. This haul of riches in recruits is overwhelming for this 50 year plus fan of Tide basketball. There’s even more good news:

Quote
Alabama could make another addition Thursday when Texas Tech transfer Nimari Burnett is expected to announce his choice. The Tide are one of seven schools in the mix for the 2020 McDonald’s All-American guard along with Auburn, LSU, Illinois, USC, Vanderbilt and Oregon.

And on Sunday, former Furman forward Noah Gurley will announced his transfer destination from a list of schools that includes Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Florida and Tennessee.

Burnett committed to the Crimson Tide over teams like Auburn, Illinois, LSU Oregon and USC.

89% FT shooter. Can we make him the designated FT shooter?  :lol2:

"With Burnett’s commitment, Alabama is one over the 13-player scholarship limit for the 2021-22 season. ... That means someone on the current roster will have to leave to make room."

We may have to snatch away 2's scholly!   :lol2: :lol2:

My big concern is that Quinerly or Shackelford leave to try & go to the NBA. They aren’t ready but who knows?

The Alabama men’s basketball program landed another big transfer on Sunday in the form of Noah Gurley, a forward from Furman who spent the last four years with the Paladins.

Gurley chose the Crimson Tide over Florida, Auburn, Miami, Marquette and San Diego State.

A native of Fayetteville, Ga., Gurley earned second-team All-Southern Conference honors this past season after averaging 15.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He averaged 21.1 points per game over Furman’s final five regular-season games and scored a career-high 30 points against VMI in the SoCon quarterfinals -- what is now his final game at Furman.

From up here in my neck of the woods. Where's he gonna put all these people? Is everybody declaring?

Alabama basketball signee Langston Wilson announced on Monday that he will pursue other options after signing with the Crimson Tide in November. The Georgia Highlands junior college product had been a member of UA's class since October of 2020. Bama recently landed a trio of commitments in four-star center Charles Bediako, Texas Tech transfer Nimari Burnett, and Furman transfer Noah Gurley, putting UA over the 13-man scholarship limit.

“I was happy Greg extended me and I like it in Alabama a lot,” Oats said. “I like working with Greg, I like working with the staff we have. I want to continue to build this thing, so I didn’t mind that he pretty much took me out of contention for a lot of those jobs that maybe my name came up, because I really don’t want to move. I’ve got three young girls that are — I’ve got a daughter going into her senior year of high school, an 11-year-old and an 8-year-old. My family likes it there, we’d like to be there a long time, we’d like to build it. I just think if we keep getting better, we can kind of eliminate a lot of those distractions as you got close to the end of the year. Now, we can just focus on recruiting and building this program.”

Alabama will bring in the No. 7-ranked 2021 class

“We’ve got the snowball rolling now,” Oats said. “You get some momentum going, you win. We were the only high-major team to win a regular season and the conference tournament, both. Recruiting’s going better, people want to be associated with a winner. So, we’ve just got to keep the momentum rolling at this point. Having to entertain all kinds of different jobs as your name comes up, to me that’s just a big distraction. I was thankful Greg extended us. Let’s get that out of the way and let’s keep moving with what we’re building here.”
