Title: Alabama vs Misses State Basketball-Now-
Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 23, 2021, 05:04:59 PM
Tide and MSU on now at SEC Network. Game slow and lethargic right now, 2-2 in over 2 minutes.

State slowing game down, which is to their benefit. 15-11 MSU and Tide not looking right. Credit to MSU defense.

MSU defense is very active and good movement. Tide sloppy with ball trying to throw into the heart of MSU defense. 17-11 MSU.

Bama up 40-35 at the half thanks to hitting the 3s. Miss St killing us on the boards.

MSU is a two point shooting team that plays in the paint and around the basket. Tide is an excellent 3 point team and can get lay-ups off defense or breakaways. MSU can’t compete unless they are getting a lot of baskets near the basket. Tide 44-35 after MSU misses and scoring by Tide.

MSU 1/5 3 pointers. Tide 10/22 3 pointers. 54-48 Tide

Tide looks out-of-sync right now. A couple of ugly shots and bad passing is slowing us down. MSU playing disciplined and rebounding well. 56-51 Tide.

Tough, tough game. MSU was tenacious but Tide kept its composure and won, 81-73.

A tough win indeed. Way too many turnovers for Bama, but they shot their way out of the sloppy play. Kudos to MSU for keeping their composer all game long. They made a lot of timely shots to keep it close.

The difference in this close game compared to last years close games? They finished. All their games won't be blowouts this year, but if they can continue to finish in the close ones, they can go a long way.

8-0 in the SEC and 13-3 overall. Hard to believe but since the beginning of 2020, in Bama's main 3 sports; football, basketball and baseball, they are 42-4. WOOOT!!!

Bama needed a game like this. MSU played very good defensively, and Bama needs to feel some heat at the end of a game to get ready for the SEC and NCAA tourney.

A hard fought tough game. I have worried how we will match up with a team that is bigger than us and plays through the post. Since Bruner went out I have worried these type teams could get us in foul trouble but that was not the case last night. Overall, a good win.

I like what you are saying but your math is fuzzy. You include the 16-1 baseball record from last year but you do not include the 9-10 record the basketball team posted in the 2020 portion of last years schedule. Baseball and basketball seasons were cancelled at the same time last year. You can also add 1 more football win since we beat Michigan on 1/1/20. It appears you started with baseball going 16-1, football 13-0 and the current basketball of 13-3 and I agree with that.

I don't know about the past but I am glad somebody finally hired a BB coach that says what he means and wants to win. RTR!

I prefer to forget last year's basketball team, thank you.  :lol2:

You think coaches want to lose. Wow, never thought a coach wanted to lose so he can get fired.

Hey MD, what I meant was it appears that CNO goes the extra mile to win. I can't find the post but he actually told these players if they don't want to play defense they sit on the bench and he play whoever does want to play defense.
I ain't saying the other didn't want to win but the fact is they didn't win and now we are winning. So, the facts speak for themselves sir. Thanks for asking me about my explanation. RTR!
