Title: LSU NEWS & UPDATES, MOSTLY ALL BAD
Post by: Marshal Dillon on December 23, 2020, 10:26:25 PM
First, the firing of their DC Coordinator.

Quote
Ed Orgeron didn’t waste any time trying fix his football program.
Less than 48 hours after defending national champion LSU finished a shockingly bad 5-5, the school announced Monday night that it was “mutually” parting ways with first-year defensive coordinator Bo Pelini.

Quote
Pelini’s contract called for a $5.2 million buyout during a huge drop in revenue because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the school’s announcement Monday night suggested that the financial settlement would be less.

It doesn’t matter – except to LSU’s budget and to Pelini.

Now, more on 2 other assistants.

Quote
Ed Orgeron’s makeover of the LSU staff continues. The program announced Tuesday that offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger and defensive line coach Bill Johnson have retired from on-field coaching duties and are moving into analyst roles.

Quote
Ensminger, who played quarterback for the Tigers under Charles McClendon in the 1970s, just completed his 11th year on the LSU coaching staff, the final three coming as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. Ensminger joined the Tigers in 2010 as tight ends coach. Ensminger also served as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for the final eight contests of the 2016 season when Ed Orgeron was elevated to head coach four games into the season.

Good glad to hear that a lot of people are leaving. Maybe that will get recruits to us. RTR!

LSU was fortunate to finish 5-5.  After this dismal year, Coach O had to do something.  Guess you gotta give him credit for getting to it.

McB, he certainly wasn't going to take the blame.  :lol2:

He had to do it to save himself. Who hired those guys to start with? Now, if something goes wrong next year or the year after it’s all on Oregeron.

LSU only had 5 starters back at the start of the year, I think, and then a couple opted out during the year.   Pelini was a dumbass hire, and put that squarely on Orgeron.   Otherwise, I thought they improved as the year went on and dealt with a difficult circumstance fairly well.

Time will tell, but I don't think he's a bad coach.   No one else is Coach Saban, but I think O is still a top 15 or maybe top 10 coach.   Everyone can't have the GOAT.
