Title: Atlanta Braves
Post by: 2Stater on September 23, 2020, 05:13:02 AM
Clinched the NL East last night with an 11-1 over the Marlins.

Well maybe to a shorten season they won't wear out like usual. They might can hold up till playoffs are over. RTR!

Lots of folks are talking about the Reds being a tough matchup for the Braves in the first round, despite it being a #2 vs #7 matchup.  I don't think the Reds can keep up with the Braves' scoring, but I've been wrong a few times in my life.

To be  successful in the playoffs, you gotta have good starting pitching and play very good defense. Braves aren't that deep in starters but will play good D.

Reds will have good starters and I don't know about their D.

My biggest scare about Braves is how they choke in playoffs. RTR!

Not sure the seeding system worked out well for my Dodgers this year...

You got the Padres that you were 6-4 against, right?  :dunno:

Well the Braves next games is against the Marlins and they might just make the Braves have bad days. RTR!

I hate that the Braves don't get them at home. They will play at a neutral site. (Houston)

Yes, but the Padres had the second best record in the NL and are a much better team than the Marlins.

The Braves joined only the 1905 Giants and 1966 Orioles in having 3 shutouts in 4 playoff games.

Meanwhile, my team needs to find a closer.  Actually, they need to just focus on matchup pitching and ditch the idea that a team must have a dedicated closer.

Sorry, fellas.   The shutouts are over.

The series begins Monday in Arlington.   Winner stays in Arlington for the World Series, and the loser gets to pop the bubble.

Well it is gonna be hard to defeat the Dodgers regardless who plays them. Braves are good but I am not sure they have the pitching to do it. I know about the shutouts but this is the Dodgers we are playing. RTR!

I'm not saying it will hold true in the playoffs, but the Dodgers bullpen ERA (2.74) was much better than the Braves (3.50) this season.

The Dodgers haven't won a WS since '88.   I turned 8 years old during that WS, so I BARELY remember that one.   It would be nice to see one in my adult lifetime.

I think you're in trouble, HL. The only WS the Atlanta Braves have ever one was in '95, a shortened season due to the strike. Guess what?  8)

The Braves have won three, but only one in Atlanta.   They beat the Yanks in '57 while still in Milwaukee.   Surely you remember that one well.

A well-deserved win for the Braves again.   The Dodgers worked hard to draw walks off Anderson last night, but didn't drive a single one of them in.  It's hard to win like that.

We called off the dogs after getting up 15-0.  :lol2:

It doesn't matter how much you win by, it still only counts 1.   Braves will wake up tomorrow morning with a 2-1 lead, and things will eventually feel positive again.

Beat the freakin' AL, guys.   At least do that.
