Title: "Possible first-game matchup for Alabama"
Post by: Chechem on July 28, 2020, 11:33:08 AM
"Among the teams A.D. Greg Byrne could call and reach an agreement with include Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia, TCU, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Baylor or even UCF. These schools, especially Oklahoma, Texas and Oklahoma State, would drive fans up the wall and have major networks fighting over who gets the game. Alabama is the elite power and trendsetter of college football.

When a medical tent and LED lights were first introduced to Bryant-Denny Stadium, other areas took notice and immediately implemented those things into its athletic departments.

If Alabama hits a home run with its week one opponent, it will cause everyone else to consider who to put on their schedule..."

My money is on BYU.

The way things are going, I'd settle for Slippery Rock.

I'm not giving up on a major matchup.  I really don't want to play BYU; wouldn't help us.  Maybe we can get one of the Big-12 teams.  BTW, the ACC meets today to discuss their plans for the season.

PF said that they pushed it back. Inept Emmert said the season is in serious trouble. I hope those wusses don't have any say-so in the decision.

Better hope the Marlins don't come up in discussion.  They appear to be the canaries in the coal mine.

Too late. They are now the poster boys for all the decision making right now.

I read yesterday that BYU is almost a done deal pending the SEC approval of a 12 game schedule. Apparently the SEC is still considering a reduced schedule, maybe just conference games.  :dunno:

All of this stuff is coming to a head I believe. If we lose football we become another 3rd world country just like those who don't have college football and basketball. RTR!

Chech, you were right, the ACC met today and said da#@ the torpedoes and full speed ahead with an 11 game schedule, starting the 2nd week in September.

Sooooo, assuming all goes well until mid-September, they'll play 11 games.
Kind of a cop-out plan.  It's just wait and see, and when the canaries croak they can still cancel the season.
Then the Commish and ADs will say, "we tried".

I wonder what happens to towns like T-town, Athens, Gainesville, and others that live off college football? The loss of revenue will hurt I am afraid. RTR!
