Alabama Kicks off the 2020 Softball season today in the Joanne Graff Classic at Tallahassee, FL

Bama playing University of North Carolina in first game today.

Since Bama will be playing  a double header today (FSU later) Murph is playing a lot of new comers.

True freshmen Jenna Johnson in LF, Savannah Woodward at 3b, and Lexi Kilfoyl pitching.  Senior transfer Alexix Mack is at

Skyler Wallace is at SS due to season ending injury to Clair Jenkins'

Clark is at 1B and Hemphill is catching.

Sides and Brown are the only 2 starting today that played the same positions last year.

After 5 innings Bama has a 5-0 lead.

Top of 6th Bama gives up 2 runs on 1 hit and 3 errors,

Score now 5-2

Sara Cornell in to pitch 7th inning.

Cornell struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 inning to close the game.

Bama wins 5-2

Bama probably had some first game jitters since 4 of their 5 errors were by true freshmen in their 1st college game.

Kilfoyl had 2 throwing errors, Woodard had a throwing error, and Johnson had a fly ball error.

No extra base hits today, all small ball. Tow was only player with 2 hits.

Bama plays #8 Florida State later today.

We need to  clean up the defense and start attacking the ball to stay with FSU.

Hopefully will will see Fouts in the circle.

I don't think it was televised, I was following it on gametracker.

Goodman came in to close out the game.

She faced four batters giving up a run and leaving the bases loaded with no outs.

Fouts re enters and prompty gives up a grand slam to the first batter she faced.

Fouts struggled to retire the sides after loading the bases.

Game going to extra innings tied at 7

Savannah Woodard fields it, steps on third and fires to first for the 5-3 double play ... runner on second with two out!

Saturday Games;

1st Game: FSU run ruled Bama 8-0 in 5 innings

2nd Game: North Carolina scored 5 runs in bottom of 7th for a walk off win.

For tournament Bama had 1 win and 3 lost.

I was just feeling pretty good about the basketball win, then this hits me in the gut.  :(

I'm sure Murph is experimenting with the freshmen though.

I hope he gets it figured out pretty quick. Next weekends tournament will have us going up against  #2 Washington, #4 UCLA, and #12 Ok. State. We could dig ourselves into a pretty deep hole if we're not careful,

Boy, no kidding. We need some chemistry fast.  :unsure:

To be the #1 ranked team starting the season, they suck... just sayin... :-X

Well we won't be ranked #1 the rest of the season. Now we can work and win some games to make the playoffs. RTR!

At least the bb team is "bipolar". 

This team seems to be simply "polar" (i.e., COLD).

There's plenty of time to get better. Let's just hope they do.

Just hope that collapse against FSU didn't break them.

Team looked a lot different from what we saw last week.

I was pretty tough on the team after losing 3 of 4 games last weekend.  Very proud of their play yesterday especially by the freshman pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl.  She gave up only 1 hit in the shut-out run-rule win.  #+ #+ #+

Bama beats So Fla 9-1, but loses to UCLA 7-0. Looks like we have another bipolar team.  :dunno:

Yeah, I watched UCLA.  Their (HUGE) pitcher was dominant.   :(

Watching Okie Lite-ettes vs Bama. We are down 1-0 in the 4th. This is the worst defensive team I've ever seen at Bama.  :facepalm:

OSU had the bases loaded with no outs against Fouts. Murph put Kilfoy in and she got three up, three down. A run scored on a ground out, so now it's 2-0 OSU going the the B-4.

Don't know what's going on with Fouts, but OSU was hitting her hard.

1,2,3 inning quickly. OSU coming up in the T-5 still up 2-0. Bama bats are still anemic.

Only good news is that it doesn't appear that we are peaking too early.  :lol2:

Bama gets one in the B-6 to make it 2-1 OSU.

OSU gets 2 in the T-7 to make it 4-1. Bama coming up for the last time unless they tie it up.

Bama loses 4-1.

This team has a long way to go to be good. There just isn't any team chemistry right now. Let's hope they figure it out.

The no chemistry may be the actual problem. If you back up your guys on the team BB is just dust on the playground. RTR!

Bama wins another mercy rule against Penn St, 14-6. Penn St actually jumped out to a 5-0 lead early.

The girls run ruled UT Arlington 11-3 in 5 innings but drooped their second game 2-1 to #7 Arizona.

I hate it when we droop games.  >:(

Bama lost a heartbreaker to Arizona yesterday, 6-5. Arizona hit a 2 out, 3 run HR in the top of the 7th for the win.

The Zona rally in the top half of the 7th came right after Bama had a 2 out, 3 run rally of their own in the 6th to take the lead for the first time in the game. Tough way to lose the game.

Maybe they will learn from it and win some games. RTR!

Bama finishes the Eaton Bama Classic with a 4-0 win over McNeese. Not the weekend the girls wanted.

I fear that Bama isn't as good as we want them to be.  I saw that they are currently 1-7 against ranked opponents.  That won't get us to the WCWS.   >:(

Well everybody knows that each year if we are ranked #1 in any sport we wind up not playing good at all. I don't thought we have ever in the near past went undefeated all year. RTR!

Softball cannot get going in the right direction. They lost to Arkansas last night 1-0 in Tuscaloosa. We only had 5 hits with KB Sides getting 3 of them. It was only the second time Arkansas had ever won a game at Rhoads House.
