Title: Clemson vs. LSU
Post by: Catch Prothro on January 13, 2020, 08:41:10 PM
Anyone watching this game?

I don't have cable or stream (since yesterday), but I'm managing to watch online at ESPN (the Refcast).  Must not be high demand to listen to these refs, but still I get the video stream, and they're better than Gary anyway.

After a slow start and terrible starting field position (average LSU own 5 yard line), LSU has come back, scored 3 TDs and taken the lead.

Clemson 17  LSU 21

Burrow and LSU stomps Clemson 42-25. SEC goes 8-2 in the bowl games. As much as I hate to admit it, LSU may have the best college football team ever. If not, certainly one of the best.

I don't know about "best ever."  It's hard to compare teams across seasons.  Maybe best offense, or best pro-style QB.  Not best defense.

But it definitely was LSU's season.  Everything went right for them this year.  Something about karma, a national championship game to be played in New Orleans, seems to bring out the best in LSU.

Congrats to them.  I cheered more loudly for them the more the announcers talked "Clemson dynasty" and "3 of the last 4".

I was already rooting for LSU, but the talk of a "Clemson Dynasty," supplanting Bama, 3 of the last 4, just say No (or Geaux)!

I was pulling for LSU as well. Like y’all, I was sick of all the talking heads saying Clemson was replacing the ‘Bama Dynasty’.  And the ‘aw shucks’ Dabo persona the media just eats up.
No doubt, LSU had a magical season. They won straight up. No game changing calls. They just flat beat Clemson and I loved seeing it.

I don't see that at all.  Without a mysterious unforced fumble by Tua and a stupid personal foul on Landon Dickerson, we very likely would have beaten them.  And we aren't great.

I thought Trevor Lawrence had a horrible game, and that was the difference.

I don't know of any other team in history that beat 7 teams that were ranked in the top 10 when they played them.

LSU had to kick it into another gear to beat Bama.  Once they won that game, LSU saw the possibilities and continued to play with that level of intensity through the Championship.

Saying Bama wasn't great disregards the best offense in Bama history.  With a healthy Tua, Bama likely beats LSU.

I don't think the Clemson v. LSU was as close as the score -- the only reason LSU didn't score more points is because Clemson managed to give LSU terrible starting field position the entire first quarter.

The knock on Trevor Lawrence all season was that Clemson didn't play any decent defenses.  This showed in the semifinal, when Big10 Ohio State held Clemson's offense to 29 points.  And again vs. LSU.

Well if all our returns and new people play up to the Bama Factor then next year we will be talking about how great Bama is if our coaches don't poof on each other. RTR!

Joe Burrow says it was real money.  Leave it to LSU to thug up a national championship and commit NCAA violations before they even get the trophy.  :eyeroll:

I saw that.  Burrow said it wasn't a violation as to him because his college career was over, but you have to wonder who else got cash and what the ramifications will be.  Will there be players not on the roster next year?  Will they pay back the money and issue an "apology."

Total thug move by ABJ.  He should know better.

This is all on OBJ.  The kids should just give the money back, if they haven't already, and OBJ should be "disassociated" or whatever the NCAA term is.  Besides, can you really trust him to be hanging around your program if that is how he is going to act?  I don't think the players should suffer any punishment for this.  They're on the field trying to celebrate a national championship and you've got some moron walking around handing out money.
