10 more days to go to nfl. I don't see him staying because of the money and injury factor but I would Love to see him come back. RTR!

Junior running back Najee Harris has yet to publicly declare his intentions regarding his decision but after most suspected the Crimson Tide tailback would be leaving school early for the 2020 NFL Draft, Chris Breece of CBS 42 is reporting that Harris has informed the Alabama coaching staff that he will return for his senior season in Tuscaloosa.

That would surprise me too, if he stayed. He's a solid RB and would likely go in the 3rd round or better. Not sure he would improve his stock by staying. His playing time would likely actually be cut, with the return of Trey Sanders and the emergence of Keilan Robinson.

If he does return for his senior year I would think he would be an early favorite for the Heisman.  Of course, the season is long so no way of knowing how he would finish.

Nagee averaged just 1 TD per game this year.  By Bama standards that seems quite low but admittedly I have not looked to see what other RB's have averaged.  He is a solid RB and has been very healthy running for us.  Love to see him again but wouldn't blame him if he did leave.

I see very little chance of him winning the Heisman. He'll share time with other backs, and Bama will have a potent passing attack. In '09 and '15 Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry pretty much put the teams on their backs and carried them to finish line.

I'd love to have him back. A player with his skills along with the experience he'd now have would not hurt. But as I said in another thread, I'm not sure there's any upside to him coming back. Teams typically don't draft RBs higher than the late 1st round (see Derrick Henry falling to the 2nd round after running over everybody in '15). While he might make a little more of a name for himself, I don't think he'd dramatically improve his draft position.

Word is that this year's RB class (for the draft) is deep, whereas next year is projected to be thin at RB.

Also, with Tua and some WRs leaving, Bama is expected to rely more on the running game next year.

These factors might have encouraged Najee to consider returning.

But those who have watched him play this year saw an NFL-ready RB who can take over a game (like Michigan), also is a potent pass threat, and is healthy.  So if scouts have been paying attention, he might go higher in the draft than projected.  A bargain for sure.  As Saban has said, draft projections are questionable, because teams try not to reveal the players they are interested in and try to misdirect the press. Still, that is a big risk (hoping to go higher than projected),  even bigger than the risk of injury (with insurance policies in place).

For the record, I DO NOT expect Nagee to win the Heisman if he returns.  I was just pointing out that if he does, many of the talking heads will put him high on the list of contenders early on.  Who knows though?  If he has a really good season for us next year then he could definitely be a finalist.

If Brian, and Trey, and Keilan stays healthy Najee won't get enough time for the Heisman consideration I don't believe. RTR!

Najee really turned it on about the midway point of this season.

It has been heavily rumored (and seemingly verified by Najee himself) that he thought about transferring a couple times in his years at Bama.  Considering that, I'd be surprised to see him come back.

That was early in the 2018 season as I recall.  None of that talk since he became "the man" this year.

You know I really don't care if he stays or goes cause to much talk and hype makes a one man backfield a bad place. We have enough good guys coming back he won't be the work load any more. I wonder how Trey is doing? RTR!

Harris has been back in Tuscaloosa since early in the weekend.

Najee back in Tuscaloosa before classes start is a good sign.   :lol2:

And I don't agree with with some of y'all are saying.  Najee is a great RB, NFL level talent with game experience, someone not easily replaced.  Hopefully he will be able to showcase his talent at Bama next year and then sign for the big bucks.

Win the Heisman?  That's mostly a QB award.  Since 2000, only two RBs have won the Heisman, both from Bama.  So it's a possibility, but I'd keep an eye on Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence to get the most attention, especially early in the season.

“It’s all based on how guys get ranked and rated from NFL teams, and I give the players the information -- where he was slated relative to all the other players that are coming out this year or are available,” Saban said Wednesday. “It’s a very heavy year for running backs. He made the decision that he wanted to come back, and we’re happy to have him back.”

Good call, CP.
